5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome nailer, April 13, 2003
By Andrew A. Jennings (Goose Creek, SC United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hitachi NV45AB2 7/8-Inch to 1-3/4-Inch Roofing Nailer (Tools & Hardware)
I researched several roofing nailers and based my decision on the reviews I read about the Hitachi. I have shingled two roofs so far and have had zero problems. The second roof I did was for a friend and he helped with his Poter Cable nailer. It was picky about the nails that were used, jamed often and had no depth setting. The Hitachi kept plugging along and never missed a beat. The depth setting was crucial for the different situations when installing shingles. After years of hammering nails and seeing other guns in action, I highly recommend the Hitachi NV45AB2.

5.0 out of 5 stars If I said it once I said it a hundred times.....AWESOME!!!, October 3, 2004

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Hitachi NV45AB2 7/8-Inch to 1-3/4-Inch Roofing Nailer (Tools & Hardware)
I am a part time handyman and a full time enthusiast of quality tools that do the job right the first time. I read reviews, get advice and use friends tools or rentals prior to purchasing. And prior to buying the Hitachi (what an awesome roofing machine) I rented and was sold on the Bostich RN46-1.

The Bostich I rented performed well. It jammed once every coil and I did have to set some of its nails with a hammer, but all in all a good machine. Then there was the one I purchased. This nailer must have slipped past quality control at Bostich. What a peice of doo. This unit jammed evey 10th nail and I was setting every 5th with a hammer. It took what should have been a 20 hour job and turned it into a 40 hour job. What a shame for a product whoes companies reputation for its nailer is very high. So it was at this point I went the path of the Hitachi.

I have only seen and used one other Hitachi in my travels and that was a framing gun. I was impressed with its balance, weight and perfomance. It was this experiance a few years ago and the reviews here on Amazon that led me to the coil roofing nailer NV45AB2.

All I can say is AWESOME! TOTALLY AWESOME (I am a child of the 80's)!! I took the gun out of the box, gave it a few drops of oil and went to town on a roof repair. I used 5 full coils of nails and did not have one jam nor did I have to set any of the nails manually. AWESOME!!! I can't say it enough. Had I gone this route to begin with I would have saved 20 hours on my original job and hundreds of dallars. And the price!!! Amazon has the best price in town ($385 at Home Depot and $325 at Lowes).

Do yourself a favor and buy the Hitachi. Don't let the Bostich name and their market saturation get the best of you. If you want quality and longevity out of your tools, go with Hitachi. AWESOME!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars THE PERFECT ROOFING NAILER, April 10, 2003
By MATTHEW K MAYNARD (COLUMBUS, OHIO) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hitachi NV45AB2 7/8-Inch to 1-3/4-Inch Roofing Nailer (Tools & Hardware)
Hitachi has long had the best roofing coil nailer on the market with the NV-45AB. This new and improved model actually made the best thing even better. It is very similar to the previous nailer but it offers an easier method to reload coils. Much more durable than any of its competition. I have tried them all. Max, Bostitch, Senco, Paslode. Nothing can surpass the Hitachi!
