Editorial Reviews

About the Artist
At first glance, Warp 11's torn federation uniforms might lead one to believe they're a parody band. But Warp 11 is serious original rock music, intertwining the rawness of Green Day, the swagger of Puddle of Mudd and the hard driving tradition of AC/DC. That's not to say Warp 11 won't also make you laugh. Their music features enough clever absurdity to make even data giggle. While most modern artists assert dominance through tales of wealth and power, Warp 11 proved their worth with fantasies of celebrity friendship on their first radio single "Everything I Do, I Do with William Shatner." Based in Sacramento, California, Warp 11's rock god prowess is demonstrated at live shows packed with an unlikely mix of the sci-fi convention-savvy and rock crowd elite, who wear sci-fi costumes, bounce and belt out lyrics to favorites such as "Seven of Mine."

Product Description
Warp 11's sophomore release "Red Alert" demonstrates the evolution the band made in the two years since "Suck My Spock", from sci-fi garage punks into interstellar rock gods. The first single from "Red Alert", "Everything I Do (I Do With William Shatner)" took off in 2003 to widespread media praise and college and alternative rock radio airplay.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very solid album by Warp 11, December 16, 2002
By "starius" (Ames, Iowa USA) - See all my reviews
Red Alert is a huge step forward for Warp 11. I've listened to very few CD's where I can sit through the entire thing and enjoy every song, but Red Alert is an exception. It's a solid album all the way through, and is a good example of Warp 11's diversity of musical styles.
From the rockin' tunes of "Red Alert" and "Sto Vo Kor" to the upbeat "Space Happy" and "Trekie Girl" to the truly orginial "Q" and "Suds Me Up Sulu" (A friend of mine had to hear that one twice on a recent car trip back from Chicago), I was very happily surprised at the variety of Red Alert. They even added a touch of country with The Ballad of Bones, which has actually become one of my favorites.

To be perfectly honest in this review, I do have one complaint.. though it is of a technical nature. This disc may have trouble playing on various older or media sensitive hardware. I usually play my audio discs on a RCA RC6000P DVD player though a Pioneer receiver, etc. However, this audio disc will not play in the RC6000P. I am aware this player is senstive to disc types, but I was still somewhat surprised because this certainly wasn't a issue with Suck My Spock. Though, if your audio setup is newer, you probably will not run into this issue.

That being said, I love this album. Karl Miller has really gotten to show off his vocals in this round, Jeff Hewitt and even Brian Moore were able to show off thier vocal talent more for this album too.

If you like Star Trek and you like to rock, you'll love Warp 11.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Personal Favorite, September 30, 2004
Okay, I am biased. I love rock. I love sci-fi. But I have to say that the music on this album is beyond amazing! I listen to a lot of music. I own over 300 CD's. Warp 11's Red Alert is the first thing I turn on when I am looking for something that will entertain me and my friends.

First, Karl Miller's vocals are incredible as are the bass lines he lays down. Just listen to the opening of the title song and you will understand what I mean. Then listen to the guitar stylings of Mr. Brian Moore. He rivals just about any other rock guitarist out there. If Jeff Hewitt's drumming doesn't drive you to dance, you can't be breathing. What you don't hear on the albums that you get in the live shows is rock goddess, Kiki Stockhammer. The combination of these four powerful talents is something to be reckoned with.

Now, just be warned, they are a Star Trek band. With every song they pay a tongue-in-cheek homage to the beast the is the Star Trek franchise. You will fall in love with songs like "Trekkie Girl" and "Replicate (My Love)".

Having been to many shows and planning to go to more and to get any future releases, I definately recommend Red Alert and Suck my Spock to anyone looking for good music, good sci-fi and good humor all in one package!

4.0 out of 5 stars not just star trek fan music,, August 23, 2003
Warp 11 is a really good band, and the great thing about it is, you dont have to be a star trek fan to enjoy their music, just great words theyve used to piece together. Im not just saying that because they are from my hometown, but they trully are exceptional, Karl Miller the head band guy has good ideas, maybe he should take over the star trek franchise, im sure the fans would like that over Rick Berman anyday of the week!
