1.0 out of 5 stars IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THIS PRODUCT!!!, February 17, 2006
By ENIGMATIK (I am everywhere) - See all my reviews
I advise you NOT to buy this CD for $99.99.

It is NOT as rare as mentioned above. Although I had a VERY difficult time tracking this CD through other stores (both public and online), I found the CD in high stock at http://www.varesesarabande.com. And.... this CD only costs 16.98! That's it! Not a friggin 100 bucks!

When searching, be sure you enter "Recruit" and not "The Recruit," otherwise the search will yield no results. In case you're wondering, I am not a representative of Varese Sarabande records. Rather, I am a conscientious consumer and hate to see anyone get ripped off.

I implore you to post a comment if my consumer advisory review was helpful to you. And let's see if the above-seller ends up reducing his price hahahahaha.

4.0 out of 5 stars A recruit for a good score, February 21, 2003
By Brandon Cutro (Tyler, Texas United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Here lies the sister score to Harry Gregson-Williams' Spy Game. Like Spy Game, The Recruit utilizes a heavy amount of synths with a symphony orchestra along side. The main theme is a 4 note motif for strings and piano that can be heard in "Main Title", "Talking Over Crabs", "Hijacked", "You're Going to Langley", "Nothing Is What It Seems", and "Target Is Burke." If you are curious as to what the theme sounds like, just listen to "The Emperior Is Dead" track from the soundtrack "Gladiator". Wait until the part when the emperor dies and you will hear a 4 note motif. That is the exact same theme that occurs throughout The Recruit. Klaus Badelt wrote additional music in "Gladiator", so that must have been his work. Additional thematic material is found in "To the Farm" and "CIA Training", which only exists in these 2 tracks. This theme too is based on 4 notes, but unfortunately does not develop into something that lasts. "Hijacked", "A Bug For Breakfast", "Nothing Is What It Seems", and "Target Is Burke" contains some exciting action music with lots of synth rhythms and pounding percussion. This score is much different from Badelt's previous works, such as The Time Machine and K-19: The Widowmaker. This is most similar to Spy Game and is recommended, even though the first listen through won't leave much of an impression. Listen to this score a few times and it will begin to grow on you.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4 Months Into 2003, And This Is The First Score Worth Buying, April 7, 2003
By "mr_fan87" (Florida) - See all my reviews
I Am A Huge Fan Of Movie Scores. In Fact, They Are Practically The Only Music I Listen To. The score to the exciting film The Recruit by Klaus Badelt instantly caught my ear when I viewed the film. I instantly went out and bought the cd, and I haven't stopped listening to it since. It is fast, fun, and exciting, and it mixes synths along with a symphony orchestra. Imagine taking the movie score to an epic film (a la John Williams) and mixing it with tecnho. The score to The Recruit is what you would get. It is now 4 months into 2003, and this is the only score from this year I have bought, and to be honest, I am glad I did. It is well worth your time and money, and for all fans of movie scores, or for those who like techno-esque/symphony music, this is for you.
