Get the basics done right, at an incredibly low price with the eMachines T2260 desktop computer--the perfect family PC for daily computing: sending e-mails, surfing the Internet, writing reports and more. It features a 1.8 GHz Athlon XP processor, 60 GB hard drive, 256 MB of installed RAM, a combo DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive, and Windows XP Home operating system.

The Basics

• Hard Drive: The 60 GB hard drive (7200 RPM) is slightly below average in size when compared to other budget-minded desktop PCs. It will provide decent storage space for your family digital photos as well as a large digital audio library--but it's not quite enough for editing digital video from camcorders.
• Processor: Because it gets more done per clock tick, this 1.8 GHz processor delivers similar performance to a 2.6 GHz Intel Pentium 4. It has a front-side bus of 333 MHz and an L2 cache of 256 KB. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance.)
• Memory: The 256 MB of installed RAM will get you started, but you'll want to add more to handle any kind of multimedia application and most business productivity suites. This desktop has a 2 GB maximum RAM capacity.
• CD/DVD Drive: This desktop includes a speedy combo DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive, with 40x write, 16x rewrite, and 40x read speeds for CDs and 16x read speed for DVDs.
• Keyboard & Mouse: The T2260 comes with a standard Windows keyboard and two-button mouse.

Screen, Graphics and Sound
Video and graphics are provided by the S3 ProSavage8 graphics chip, which borrows up to 32MB of video RAM from main memory. It also feature integrated audio (AC97) and an internal mono speaker.

Connectivity and Expansion Slots
The T2260 has a basic set of external ports:

• 6 USB 2.0 ports (4 in rear, 2 in front) for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players
• 1 parallel port
• 1 serial port
• 3 free PCI slots

It includes an integrated 56K modem (V.90) and an RJ-45 LAN network port (for a 10/100 Ethernet connection to networks and DSL/cable modems).
