Now that Lil' Kim's third solo outing is upon us, it's fair time to pose this question: is this fly Brooklyn female a legitimate MC or just another media sensation? Well, probably a little of both. La Bella Mafia is a refreshingly uncommercial album that demonstrates Kim’s hard-earned mic skills, but the set never really hits its stride. Kim seems to be a woman who favors strong musical partners, yet many of the album’s collaborations fail to inspire. Swizz Beats is at his abysmal worst (as both rapper and producer) on "This Is Who I Am" while Kim’s cookie-cutter rhymes blindly follow his lead. "The Jump Off" features a hot, bhangra-accented Timbaland track that loses momentum when guest star Mr. Cheeks jumps in. But when it works, La Bella Mafia shines. Just check out "Hold It Now," where Havoc ratchets up the temperature with judicious use of the always-funky Beastie Boys sample "Paul Revere" and Kim rises to the occasion with a performance worthy of her Queen Bee title. --Rebecca Levine

Lil Kim has come out with another great album With some great songs Like The Jump off which it the reason I bought the cd after I heard that song I thought to myself I have to go get this album so I did Get in Touch with Us was a good song featuring Styles P The magic stick which is set to be her next single which is a good song featuring 50 cent actually the lyrics are good but 50 cent makes a it a better song
This Album was better then the first one Hard Core. Hard Core had slow beats on every song The only good song was Big Momma Thang. With Her Album La Bella Mafia Has lots of fast beats so you can really jam. The song I don't recommnd are This Is A warning only because its a slow song and sings about how someone will break inro your house and kill you. This is a great album to be releasted when it was releasted

I'll have to say that I really had my doubts about Kim after hearing the 2nd lp. "Notorious Kim" was a huge fiasco it sounded like Kim was caught up in the Glamour Girl foolishness! Her first effort "Hardcore" was good for the time period but never would stand the test of time production wise. I am so glad that she left Puffy and let other do the production this time. I think Puffy really hasn't grown alot and it would have held her back! Also I am glad to know that she has superceeded Foxy. I met Foxy last year in at a restaurant and she has the worst attitude! I use to be a fan now that day is over..so Kim keep doing it! This "La Bella Mafia" project is a solid futuristic banging effort. All of the tracks are superior and the flows are on point. Really and truthfully it is hard to pick a stand out the tracks are so creative. Most of the tracks are drum oriented with a heavy bass. There are alot of sound effects that give the tracks a fullness. The only weak track on here that sounds dated and out of place is the "Full Force" Produced "Can't... with the Queen Bee!" "Shake ya Bum Bum" is off the hook! It has a Asian girl chanting in the background of the track. "This is who I am" is a Swiss Beats Joint and mann did he show off. I really didn't think Swiss had that in him some of his previous work has come off so generic! "The Jump off" Timbaland penned track ...you already know he doesn't make mistakes. "This is a warning?" a remake of woman's threat by R-Kelly. Which I find rather enjoyable because she makes it a more uproarious song than the original. Really and truthfully I can review this entire project and I would just be repeating my self over and over! Go get this, it is worth every penny you will not have to skip through this. This is a difficult item to review because it is so good ...I see why the reviews have been sort of short bland.

I bought La Bella Mafia on its release date and I must say I am thoroughly impressed! I have always been a fan of Lil' Kim and can truly say that this CD shows how much she has grown over the years; not just in age and maturity, but her rap style as well. While still using explicit language, she has toned it down a bit (at least I think so). She still raps about the things she rapped about before, however, she has found different ways to say them. Lil' Kim is back and better than ever!
