We've been waiting, and here it is!, April 1, 2003
It seems like millenia ago that Chris Cagle released his first CD, PLAY IT LOUD. Well, now here's another one--titled simply, CHRIS CAGLE.I think that'd a pretty good name for this CD, considering that it's Cagle at his best--combinging macho, masculine beats and rhythms wth sensitive lyrics that women will love, that voice that has everybody going wild, and the songwriting that places him above the rest. The songs aren't necessary unique in themselves--but Cagle's delivery is superb, making them stand out from anything else you've ever heard. "Chicks Dig It" provides a bit of humor, while "Night on the Country" brings in the masculine country atmosphere. "What a Beautiful Day"--Top 20 and rising!--is piano driven, and stands out from everything else on the album--which isn't a bad thing, believe me. The incredibly romantic "It Takes Two" and "Growin' Love" sort of bog the album down just slightly, but you'll probably like those tunes as well. "I Love It When She Does That" and "Just Love Me" provide the honesty, while "I'd Be Lying" sort of tells it like it is, in a tongue-in-cheek sort of way. "Everything" rocks on, with "Look At What I Found" telling how we find the best things...when we aren't looking for them. And the closing track, "Look At What I've Done," is the biggest surprise of all--a down-trodden song about leaving a woman and then finding she doesn't really give a damn after all. It's good, very good, but sort of ends the album on a sad note...which of course you can remedy by starting it up again and playing the first track! 'Kay, I've told you about the songs. You've probably heard some of Cagle on the radio--"My Love Goes On and On," "Laredo," "Country by the Grace of God," "I Breathe In, I Breathe Out," and then this album's first track, "What a Beautiful Day." You like him, right? Sure you do. 'Cause you're a country music fan, and you know that Chris Cagle represents the absolute best of where country's at today. So buy CHRIS CAGLE, and give it a listen--then, if you can, sing along! This is country as it was meant to sound, ladies and gentlemen. This is Chris Cagle.
