Editorial Reviews

About the Artist
Steve's first CD as a leader, "Next Stop, Seelie Court", is a fun, happy blast of traditional and original tunes. The recording features some of New York’s finest musicians, including Donal Clancy, Martin and Marie Reilly, Mary Rafferty, and Scottish fiddler Bonnie Rideout. While the CD is rhythmic and lively, it’s all about the tunes, the percussion driving the music but never overpowering the rest of the musicians.

Product Description
Born in a small town in Nebraska, percussionist Steve Holloway migrated to New York City by way of Denver in the early 1990’s. With a strong jazz and pop background, he began playing Irish music when Seamus Egan asked him to record on the Soundtrack of the movie "The Brother’s McMullen" in 1995, and later on Seamus’ solo CD "When Juniper Sleeps". Since then Steve has done several national tours with Solas, and played bodhran, percussion and drums on the Broadway production of "Riverdance". He’s also recorded with Solas, Cathie Ryan, Bonnie Rideout, Marie and Martin Reilly, The McCabes, Mary Rafferty, Jerry O’Sullivan, Karen Casey and Whirligig.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hello everyone, Steve Holloway here!, July 26, 2006
By Stephen Holloway (Brooklyn, NY USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I really appreciate all the interest in my Irish music CD. My inventory is actually starting to run low, and I don't know if I'll reprint when they run out. Either way, I'm not going to sell it on Amazon anymore, as they don't stock small label CD's. (In fact, I can't even seem to log into my account to confirm orders, or to tell them to take it off the website. If anyone from Amazon reads this, help me out here...) My apologies to those who have attempted to order from this page in recent months, I simply couldn't fulfill the orders.

"Next Stop, Seelie Court" is still stocked by CD Baby, so if you want a copy, they're the folks to go to. They're a great company, and have helped me out a lot over the years.

Thanks for your understanding and all the best,

--Steve Holloway

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely Celtic Instrumental Recording , May 7, 2005
The CDBABY site describes this as "A fun, happy blast of traditional and original Irish and Scottish tunes from the bodhran player and percussionist from Solas, Riverdance and Bonnie Rideout Scottish Trio." Holloway assembled an all-star cast of musicians for this and I certainly found it very enjoyable.
Some titles (Camels in Kansas) clue the listener in that not all are traditional tunes. They are all celtic in feeling with the flute, bodhran and other traditional instruments lilting along to delight celtic music lovers.
