5.0 out of 5 stars Live music at its best, July 7, 2003
By Bodhi Heeren (Copenhagen) - See all my reviews
This wellsounding DVD features Jack Bruce and the Cuicoland Express, his superb band featuring Bernie Worrell (Parliament, Bill Laswell a.m.o.), Vernon Reid (Living Colour) and a dynamic rythmsection with 2 drummers and a pecussionist, adding a subtle latin-feeling to the music.
The repertoire is a perfect mix of classic Bruce ("White Room", "Theme From an Imaginary Western")and songs from his brilliant 2001 album "Shadows In The Air", featuring the intelligent lyrics of producer/arranger Kip Hanrahan. Jack is in topform throughout and his great vocal power really makes ballads like "Milonga" and "Dark Heart" a spinetingling experience. And the playing is superb and inspired from everyone
with Worrells hammond organ standing out in all its beautiful weirdness.
Highly recommended for all lovers of adventurous music with heart and soul and of course indipensable for all Jack Bruce fans.
