I was flipping through channels and caught the last few seconds of Zazie's "Rue de la Paix" video. Then a friend of mine returned from Paris and coincidentally had bought the single; I loved it and immediately ordered her "La Zizanie" album. I read that Zazie was pregnant and wouldn't be touring for awhile, so I wasn't expecting any live shows or anything.

Then all of a sudden I heard about 'Ze Live!!', and ordere dit right away, to hear my favorite songs from "La Zizanie" in a live environment. Boy was I in for a treat! Most of the songs from La zizanie don't reall sound very different (although it's nice to see Zazie's voice is nice when she sings live). The 2 songs I never really liked on the album, "Cheese" and "Dans La Lune" sounded absolutely amazing when played live, and they have totally changed my view of the album now :)

The other BIG BIG surprise was how well Zazie played her older songs. I had downloaded a few songs to get an idea of her earlier work, and wasn't too impressed. By changing arrangements and updating instrumentation and electronica sounds during her live sets, her old material now sounds completely fresh and interesting! What a great thing to do to your old material :)

Needless to say I'm very very impressed with this live album... Too bad I don't speak a lot of french, or I would be able to understand her supposedly intricate lyrics a lot better.

"Ze Live!!" is also available as DVD and a limited double DVD set (also including her La Zizanie videos and a look at making the album). I just received my copy and can't wait to get home to watch the DVD :)
