Editorial Reviews

The first of two linked OVA series, Password to Treasure plays like a cross between Escaflowne and Slayers. Far in the future, Earth is divided between humans and metamorphic humanoid-animals. Wan turns into a half-tiger whenever he sneezes; Bud becomes a bird when he's embarrassed, and Mei-Mer is a mermaid-princess. They want to recapture the Jinn statues, the totems of their villages, which were stolen by V-Darn and V-Sion, the nasty agents of human leader Czar Master. Both sides are searching for the unknown entity Gaia, and the little girl Yuni is the key to it all. Although the future of humanity is supposedly at stake, the battles are more slapstick than violent. The third episode ends on a cliffhanger leading into the second series, but K.O. Beast is so silly, there's no point quibbling about story structure. (Rated 13 and older: brief nudity, violence, minor profanity, alcohol use) --Charles Solomon

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Story, Great Characters, Great show!, July 10, 2003
By Sereno. (Simi Valley, CA United States) - See all my reviews
I had never heared of this show, and even if i did i wouldn't have thought of buying it, until i got a free copy of an episode from a magazine, as soon as I saw it i rushed out to buy this dvd!

Without any Spoilers the basic story is there is a great war between the North side of the world and the South, the war is so terrible that they split the world in half, 1,000 years pass and one side of the world begins to evole into beasts. The other side also slightly evolves into humans who have elf ears (not that it really helps them...) Now the humans want thier world back from these "beasts" so they creat special machines called jins, however the beasts, who are the heros of the story, end up getting these jins, they meet a young human girl named Yuni, who seems to have mystic powers, Yuni's grandfather tells them of a great treasue waiting to be found at Gia, so, the beasts and Yuni set out to find this treasue, with the humans also searching for it right behind them.

The characters are fun and loveable, they are: Wan, changes into a tiger when Hungry of sneezes, Wan loves food and will even eat his friends if he must. Mei-Mer who is a Mirmaid when she's mad, sad, or in water, Bud who is a bird when embarrassed, Bud loves girls and always dreams of them, Tuttle, who is a turtle, and Yuni, a mysterious human girl who has powers with the jins. The humans are: V-Darn, V-Sion, and the Czar master, V-Darn and V-Sion are comical enemies who ever episode try to get the beasts and fail, only to return again. The Czar Master is a mysterious man who seems to be trying to lead humans back to ruling the earth.

Now for the Dvd:
- conatins first 3 episodes
- English, English w/ subtitiles, or Japanese w/ sub.
- Great scene select that lets you pick many places instead of the usual "opening, middle, end" options you find on most anime dvds.
- Fun menus.

I would rate this anime for kids 13+ due to a few bad words and the opening song containing a quick 0.2 second scene of V-Sion naked.
This is a great show i Highly suggest you pick up.
