Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The stylish and venerable Sony ICF-C112 is a simple, yet effective FM/AM clock radio. The green LED numerals are nearly an inch high, providing easy recognition, even from across the bed and with fuzzy eyes. The alarm volume control provides an option when it comes to alarm volume; set it to either high or low, depending on your aversion to loud wake-up noises. To reassure you of alarm activation, Sony has put an alarm indicator on the display; no longer will you wonder if you have indeed set and turned-on the alarm. If your area is prone to power outages, you will enjoy the full power back-up feature. The back-up required 9V battery will keep your clock and alarm functions operational should a power outage occur. The thumbwheel AM/FM tuner gives you options for either musical or talk-radio reception. The popular snooze alarm, a standard on all the best clock radios, comes standard on the Sony ICF-C112. This clock radio also has a sleep timer, letting you fall asleep with the knowledge that the radio will turn off after a set amount of time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for the price, but loud, October 8, 2006
By J. Weber (Berkeley, CA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
After 2 years with a GE alarm clock that required a doctorate to program I just ordered this one. I love all things Sony. The numbers are large and just the right brightness for light sleepers. The switchs, lights, and knobs all make sense. For the price, its a great alarm clock. For the reasons below I must return it, but for the average user it should be fine.

The provisos are as follows:

First, the small one. As an employee who's schedule varies, I find the alarm set features annoying. You cannot go back in time, but rather have to scroll forward around the horn in order to change the time from 7:00 to 6:45. For someone who gets up at the same time everyday, this should not be a problem.

The second, and very large problem for myself is the volume of the alarm. It is loud, VERY loud. Even the soft setting is enough to startle me out of sleep and I am a very heavy sleeper. This I could get used to. However, my wife is a lighter sleeper and my 2 month old daughter (who sleeps in the room with us) is a very light sleeper. I now awake to a loud alarm clock and a screaming baby. For the average user, this will not be a problem, but if you dislike loud alarms, skip this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Four stars, March 11, 2005
Because this thing still does not keep the right time if the power is off anywhere from 45 minutes or longer. What the point of putting a battery in there if the clock still doesn't keep the right time?! I just can't believe this clock still does this. Hadn't Sony corrected this problem since the last model before this? The ICF-C111 model had the same problem of not keeping the right time if the power is off for too long.

4.0 out of 5 stars basic
I purchased this clock for my sons room. It has everything he needs-the time and an alarm/radio. The numbers are nice and big, but not so bright that it keeps you up at night.
