The perfect theater for homes with standard or high-definition televisions, Philips' style-conscious LX3750W consists of a Dolby Digital/DTS-decoding surround sound receiver with an integrated single-disc progressive-scan DVD/CD player, five satellite speakers, and a powered subwoofer. The DVD drive reads DVD, DVD+RW, and VCD, as well as CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3 CDs, and JPEG/Kodak Picture CDs.

If you're using (or plan to use) a high-definition or HD-ready TV, you'll appreciate the system's progressive scanning, which is referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image. This feature creates a picture with twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD image, giving you sharper, higher resolution images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.

The system's 50-watts-per-channel receiver and 50-watt subwoofer deliver a total of 300 watts of home theater power, and the five speakers are acoustically designed to match the receiver's tonal characteristics. The front left, right, and center speakers are magnetically shielded to prevent interference with your TV's image. The tuner offers 40 FM/AM presets.

The receiver features two analog-audio inputs and one analog-audio output, along with two digital-audio inputs (one each coaxial and optical). Three video outputs--composite-, component-, and S-video--accommodate most TVs and monitors.

I was very excited to use this system. When I recieved it and opened the box I could not wait to install it. Once I installed it and tried it out I could not wait until i sent it back for a refund.
The Wireless system seemed OK except that I continued to get a sharp metallic spiking sound from the surround speakers. When anyone crossed the path of the transmitter the speakers would screech. It was horrible. To make sure that it wasn't just the speakers, I wired them to the receiver and the sound was better.

There is no treble setting either. Most TV shows will have a high treble level and I have no choice but to deal with it. The system is great for watching DVDs but not for watching TV which is probably 95% of the use it gets. I would not buy this. There are better systems out there for the same price.

I have had this system for about 2 months now and I am totally satisfied. Very easy to set up right out of the box. All wire ends are color coded as well as speaker inputs so its impossible to screw up. My family room is 14 x 18 and the 300 watts fills it with sound. New DVD's sound especially good. I searched the web for a system with wireless speakers and this was the best system I found. I did not want to run wires around the room for the rear speakers.
The rear speakers do have to be wired together and into the wireless receiving unit. The speakers are narrow and stylish and put out surprising sound for the size. The woofer also puts out good bass for the size. A few small drawbacks - there are no bass or treble controls although the ambient settings do compensate quite well for this. Also my 900 mghz cordless phone will send a crackle through the speakers even when the system is off. This system is on a 866 mghz frequency. My 2.4 ghz cordless is no problem. The progressive DVD player is excellent. I have had a Panasonic and a Cyberhome before this and both had occasional problems with rental DVD's stalling and skipping. This has no such problem. It reads my DVD X Copy discs with no problem and the MP3 player does an excellent job reading CDRW's also. MP3's sound great. If you do not want to run wires all over the place and 300 watts is all you need this is an excellent system for the price. Wattage is an overrated overhyped function of most home theatre sytems anyway. More power does not necessarily mean better sound.

might not be so good for a large space....volume is more limited than wired sets.....the wireless feature has limits that way. If you live in a small urban environment where you shouldn't be blowing your neighbors away anyway, then this is a great system for you.
