Robert Forster (Jackie Brown, Medium Cool) plays a small-time hustler in the HBO movie Roads to Riches. A former child star, Jack (Forster) has become a perpetual game show contestant who never quite hits the jackpot. Chance drops good fortune into Jack's lap in the shape of friendship with a good-looking country boy named Henry (Kip Pardue). After appearing on the game show Roads to Riches, Henry proves so popular that the producer offers to make him the new host--but Henry will only agree if Moira (Rose McGowan), a stripper he's fallen in love with, gets a job as hostess. The triangle of Jack, Henry, and Moira grows more complicated with every step, until it threatens to ruin them all. I caught 'Roads to Riches' on late night HBO. It is a fine film, with even better acting by Rose McGowan as a striper, Robert Forrester as a washed up child actor who is trying to win cash on game shows and scam some soda company, and Kip Pardue, a dashing looking young actor who plays a Texan that has just made his way to L.A. to become an actor but ends up elsewhere.
Henry, Kip's character, meets Jack(Forrester) at a game show. They become buddies and Jack shows Henry around and to Moira(McGowan), who was taken under Jack's wing and works as a striper.
"Roads" is a dramatic movie with some twists to our three loners lives. It is part love story, part character study, and at times not sure what it wants to be.
It was the heart of its' stars that made it shine bright enough to be worthy of this review.
If you are fans of any of these stars, it's worth a look.

When I watched this movie I was pleasantly surprised. The story started out to be what I thought was going to be another "Quiz Show", but it turned out a lot different. It's a great movie for those who enjoy a love story with a twist. It's plot was ironic in places, and the ending was a bit of a surprise. I actually found it to be quite interesting to see how people so beat up, find hope in each other and end up being happy in the end.

A Rose McGowen movie with a happy ending and no one dies. You do the math. A cutsie movie with much more potential than it exhibits.
