Simply.... Flawless!, August 11, 2005
"Lo que te conte mientras te hacias la dormida" was nominated for many prestigious awards and nominations, including "Premios lo Nuestro" amd "Premios Amigo." Right after its release, it sold an outstanding half million copies in Spain and another half million copies in North and South America. At this point, this album has exceed the One and a half million copies and doesn't stop.
Here's a description and rating of each song in this album:
Puedes Contar Conmigo- Its first single. Very energetic, written entirely by Amaia (the vocalist.) In my opinion, my favorite song. R: 5/5
20 de enero- Also very energetic. Beautiful, romantic lyrics. R: 4.5/5
Rosas- The BIG hit! Another single. Not as energetic as the previous 2 songs but beautiful lyrics. This is more of like a pop ballad. This song ranked in #1 in Mexico and Spain and ranked one of the highest positions in the U.S. and other countries. Definately, one of my favorites. R: 5/5
Deseos de cosas imposibles- Its third single. Filled with energy and figurative language including metaphors. R: 4/5
Geografia- The last single. You can dance you can sing to this song you can do whatever you want with this song. The lyrics talk about two people in love wanting to live alone in this isolated planet. Very romantic. R: 4.5/5
Un Mundo Mejor- This song makes me travel to countries were poverty is present like in the countries of South America. There's just something I like about this song but I can't figure it out. 4.5/5
Tu y Yo- Very sweet melody. Contains the voice of Xabier San Martin which sings this song with Amaia. Wonderful melody. R:4.5/5
La Esperanza Debida- My second favorite after Puedes Contar Conmigo. They Lyrics almost makes me cry. Its filled with passion, feeling, grief... The lyrics talk about a people trying to escape their country and immigrate to a better country and they fail in their intent... R: 5/5
Vestido Azul- My favorite part is the intro. It has a touch of Rock and Roll. Like La Esperanza Debida, is filled with feeling but the feeling is different. Not very much to say about this song. R: 3.5/5
Adios- Love the lyrics. I like when it says "Ven, calmate no llores mas si cierras los ojos veras que sigo aqui junto a ti..." Somehow when I listen to this song, it remembers me of Amaia Montero. R: 4.5/5
Perdoname- Different from all the other songs. Different kind of instruments used or something. Everything is just so different... the music, the lyrics. Everything. R: 4/5
La paz de tus ojos- My favorite part of the song is when it says, "Que necesito la paz que se esconde en tus ojos y esa ancia en tu boca que te da la razon. Ven cuentame aquella historia de princesas de amores que un dia te conte yo..." The feeling that's obviously found here is Passion. My third favorite. R: 5/5
Nadie como tu- Another ballad. I think this was just a filler song. Very dull, boring. The only thing I like is that's kind of romantic but nothing compared to "Rosas." R: 2.5/5
Historia de un Sueño- This Song Breaks my heart. I mean the Music, the lyrics, everything is so hearbreaking! If you already have this album pay attention to the lyrics. It will make you cry. I can't explain you just have to hear it. R: 5/5
Bonustrack[Untitled]- The hidden track. I was so surprised when I heard this song! I was listening to Historia de un Sueño and right after it finished I thought The CD will stop! But instead this great music started to surround me. This is the most electric, energetic song out of La Oreja de Van Gogh's career. I just love this song. If you don't have this album you should buy it so you can listen to this outstanding song. R: 5/5
Overall this Album is not good... It's Excellent! Every song has it's own style. What a masterpiece. What a Music Bliss!
The cover art is also so GREAT! What A great oppurtunity For Amaia to show off her looks! Everything is so Awesome about this band. They're Great. I hoped you learned more about this album. Amaia is such a beauty. She's flawless.
Recommended: Of Course!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Buy this CD. Why RESIST?

we can always count on them, May 29, 2003
When I first listened to this album, I was a bit disappointed and thought La Oreja were repeating themselves. Then I listened to it again, and again, and realized how wrong I was. It's been a month now and I listen to it at least three times every day! This album requires more attention than El viaje de Copperpot. Lyrics are more complicated and it takes a while to appreciate the real genious of most songs. THE HIGHLIGHTS ROSAS. It's up there with LA PLAYA as one of the best pop ballads of recent times. love the chorus. choruses are La Oreja's specialty. BONUSTRACK. the untitled, electronic track 15. interesting, nonsense lyrics and a great voice effect that turns Amaia's singing into a keyboard. LA PAZ DE TUS OJOS. again, a monumental chorus. 'come and tell me that story about princesses and love that I once told you'. intense. GEOGRAFÍA. a new sound for La Oreja, a mix of South American and Spanish folk, with creative lyrics about creating an imaginary country with one's loved one. TÚ Y YO. simple lyrics but a beautiful vocal arrangement in the end, with Amaia and Xabi's voice in the background. There are so many other good tracks such as: LA ESPERANZA DEBIDA. it has a certain 80's U2 appeal to it in the second half. UN MUNDO MEJOR, inspired by La Oreja's experiences in Cuba. ADIÓS, again, a powerful chorus and a very subtle ending. PERDÓNAME, it's like two songs in one. A very jazzy intro and then a rock chorus. There are two tracks I don't dislike, but definitely believe they're not as good as the rest: PUEDES CONTAR CONMIGO was not the best choice for a best single. Along with DESEOS DE COSAS IMPOSIBLES, I consider it to be a filler track. In the end, La Oreja's third album is their best, but it needs your full attention before showing its true colors. PS: try downloading the B-Side for PUEDES CONTAR CONMIGO, called CORONEL. should have been on the album! Title translation: WHAT I TOLD YOU WHILE YOU PRETENDED TO BE ASLEEP 1. You can count on me 2. January 20th 3. Roses 4. Dreams of impossible things 5. Geography 6. A better world 7. You and I 8. The appropriate hope 9. Blue dress 10. Goodbye 11. Forgive me 12. The peace in your eyes 13. No one like you 14. Story of a dream

Wonderful!, August 7, 2005
I LOVE THIS CD!!! I was in a music store looking for a Nek cd, an Italian singer (check him out if you don't know who he is--he's italian but also sings in spanish), but they had never heard of Nek. So I was determined to get SOMETHING. I nearly got a cd in Arabic (I have a thing for languages) but it was between that and this. They had those things where you can scan a cd and listen to clips of songs, so I was doing that by picking up random cds from the World Music rack. When I came across La Oreja de Van Gogh, I thought, well this sounds pretty good; I'll take a risk and get it.
I am sooo glad that I bought it! It's such a great group--the tunes really stay in your head. My favs are: Puedes Contar Conmigo, Rosas, Geografia, Tu y Yo, Vestido Azul, Perdoname, and La Paz de Tus Ojos.
Really, ALL of them are great. The last track is a little weird because it doesn't have many lyrics and it's just like a dance number, but it's not bad.
Buy this cd, you will not regret it! It's one of my favorite cds right now, I love it!!
