Outfitted with a three-disc programmable CD player that handles CD-R/RW media, a digital AM/FM tuner, a dual cassette deck, and a pair of two-way bass-reflex speakers, the system lets listeners choose from several different formats for at-home or on-the-go enjoyment. The PC-XC370 includes such essential CD functions as repeat and random play, 20-track programming, song skip/search, and disc select. In addition, listeners who want to archive or dub their favorite songs or programs can record onto cassette from the CD player, radio, or other cassettes. The recordings owe their superior audio quality to the auto recording level (ALC) function, which ensures a consistent sound input, and the CD syncro-start feature, which starts recording on cassette at the precise moment the CD starts playing. Fortunately for aesthetic-minded users, the features come bundled in a contemporary silver housing that adds a modern touch to its surroundings.

The system's steady audio performance stems from the detachable speakers, each of which is equipped with a 4.75-inch woofer and 1.86-inch tweeter. The dual drivers offer a nice, complex audio range that sounds crisp and clear in almost any context. In addition, listeners can fine-tune the sound using the four preset equalizer patterns, which vary from rock to jazz to pop to clear. The system also boasts a Hyper Bass option for when you need a little extra thump. I ordered this product from Amazon a couple of weeks ago and returned it last week. During the first day of use, it SEEMED ok, the sound was decent, and i was fairly happy with it. But on that first day, i only accessed the first CD tray (it has a 3-CD changer...) Then during it's second day of use, when it tried to access the 2nd CD tray, it began to skip tracks, also would return to the first track on that CD... A total malfunction. I did try different CDs but all produced the same problems. And all of those CDs were commercially produced. It is Soooo annoying to spend so much time surfing and researching a product only to find it is defective from- well, ok, Day TWO!!!
I was downright shocked that this piece of garbage did not work... Bottom line- i wouldn't go near this product, and me- i'm not touching any other JVC products either w/ a 10 foot pole!

I had high hopes for this item. It had the possibility of being battery powered, and was perfectly powerful enough for an apartment. Having had reliable performance from a modest 10 yr old JVC single CD-cassette-radio unit, I expected JVC to continue to be of high quality. I was VERY disappointed. This unit will drain top quality rechargeable batteries within 1 hour if you play a CD at low volume. Also, I have had to take it in for repairs only 2 months after purchase since the CD player is malfunctioning. A CD placed in tray 1 seems to play OK, but CDs placed in trays 2 or 3 do not. They skip, stall, or simply won't play. The technician at the local JVC repair shop said it might cost nearly as much as the unit was worth new to do the repair (though parts are still covered under warranty). I regret having bought this, and should have paid more for a Bose or similarly well built machine. A message to JVC: please return to your high quality roots. People would be willing to pay more if you made the same high quality of 10-15 yrs ago. Ignore the big box, low ball price, and low quality culture that your competitors have embraced, and go for a high end niche instead.

All components functioning just fine. Unit is turning the heads of passersby. Sound quality excellent. Everything I wanted for the absolute lowest price I could find anywhere. Plus free shipping, AND it arrived within 48 hours. Glad I was willing to try it despite the negative comments I saw here.
