1.0 out of 5 stars It's ok but the "buzz" alarms are scary, April 22, 2005
I bought this clock for my son (3years old) because he's a huge Buzz Lightyear fan... what better clock for him than one that will wake him up with "five different Disney Buzz & Beyond custom sounds" (quoted from description).

Well we got it yesterday and I was so excited to see what sounds there were for alarm... much to my surprise and disappointment they were nothing like what I expected. They are downright scary sounding -- one sounds like fire trucks or police cars zooming through the room, one sounds like it could *maybe* be Zurg from the movie but you just can't tell for sure, the other two are just beeps and buzz noises (not Buzz, but buzz like bees). The one alarm that we settled on was some quriky "cartoon-y" sounds like squeaks and bells. There isn't even an option to use a regular alarm sound (like grown up alarms). The only other option is waking up to the radio.

Another minus is that it is terribly hard to program. I'm not a high tech techie or anything, but I know how to set my vcr time, know how to program the tivo, and certainly know how to set my own alarm clock radio... I'm still not certain about how to work this clock even after pouring over the instructions. I do know that you press on the Mickey head button to turn the radio on.

Pros (which do NOT outweigh the cons): Cool looking design, battery back up, radio tunes in well and it sounds good considering it's a clock radio.

If you're buying it because it's "Buzz" don't. If you're buying it becuase of the cool colors and you need a clock radio, go ahead, but you may need to have a degree in programming to figure it out... I'd be nervous to use it without a backup alarm clock for a few weeks (before I knew all the features enough to use it while 3/4 asleep!)

I bought this for my son who is a HUGE Buzz Lightyear fan. I didn't have any trouble setting it all. He was 5 when I bought it and has an autism disorder so I was worried the alarm sounds might bother him,but he loves waking up to Zurg laughing. He is able to operate it to turn the alarm on and off, play the radio with no problems. Overall I was very happy with this purchase and nearly 2 years later it is still working fine with no problems.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disney clock, March 19, 2004
By "robvucci" (Cincinnati, OH United States) - See all my reviews
Cute little clock with nice buzz lightyear alarm sounds. Unfortunately very difficult to use. I find it very confusing and I'm a technology loving adult. Obviously didn't have kids in mind when designing the layout. Unless your child is a huge Buzz lightyear fan, my recommendation is to stay away from this one.
