Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

These Sony headphones are super-lightweight, comfortable and safe. The MDR-A44L stereo headphones have a thin, lightweight and adjustable headband which allow you to fit them perfectly to your head's shape. There are two bands to the headband, making them more comfortable and stable. This double headband is an efficient, weight distributing feature, and makes the headphones a smart choice for those who exercise. The headphones are foldable (via three hinges) which allow for greater transportability; you can pack these away in your workout bag or in a jeans pocket.

The open-air design removes undesirable resonance by allowing outside air to pass through the headphones; the result is a better sounding headphone. The open-air design is also a key factor in keeping you safe while you exercise. The headphones allow outside noises like horns, passing bikers and oncoming dogs to meet your ears, even with music playing. With sixteen millimeter drivers, although miniscule, you can expect to hear a good bass sound. Neodymium magnets, a rare feature on such economically priced headphones, provide maximum energy with minimal size. Meanwhile, the Sony Acoustic Turbo circuit is included for high efficiency; it gets high sonic output from your portable stereo, and extends bass response.

The MDR-A44L's oxygen-free copper (OFC) Y-style cord is double-sided and is 3.9 feet long, allowing for ample movement and separation from the sound source. The gold-plated, L-shaped stereo mini-plug fits mini-plug jacks, not the full-size stereo jacks. The headphones are a flat black color.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Product for Your Money, August 25, 2005
I was surprised with the sound quality of these headphones. The bass is deep. In this price range they are the best.
My only problem with these is that they feel kind of fragile, especially when you folding them. Sony shoud use more sturdy material and thicker cables. I really loved the double headband, which is great for those who exercise. Overall it is a great product from Sony.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good phones, I'm spoiled by our shrinking electronics, October 23, 2004
By Daniel D. (California, United States) - See all my reviews
The sound quality on these headphones is pretty much what you would expect from Sony for this price, i.e., not spectacular but good treble, slightly less good bass. To be honest, if you're jogging, you'd hardly notice unless you're used to awesome sound all the time.
My only problem with these is the problem with all stiff-headband headphones; if you have a small electronic device (MD or MP3 player) the headphones can't be crammed wherever you put the device (unless you're willing to break your new headphones, which I negligently have done).
So, good for the sound, not as portable as the playing devices of the 21st century.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excelent Headphones but......, April 10, 2006
By Christian De Freitas (Caracas, Venezuela) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have a Sandisk MP3 Player, the classic, not sansa, I was happy with the included headphones until i tried it with a friends Sony vertical-in-ear headphones, it totally rocks!!

The but is this, after 2 months on continous use, the right earpiece has a hiss-like sound with strong bass, the sound is similar to a plastic bag being squeezed in your hand, that maked me keep the volume low.

This is a great headphones for the price, i recently bought the SENNHEISER PX-10 it has a LITTLE less bass than this one (nothing that a system with EQ can?t fix), but the overall sound experience is better.

1.0 out of 5 stars Speaker out in less than two weeks!
After only two weeks use (on and off, for no more than an hour each time), the left speaker went out... many Sony headbands do this, but two weeks??!! In short, it's cheap quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for jogging!
I use these headphones with my iPod Shuffle. They're really comfortable, they don't slip at all, and the sound is great. They fold up, too, which is another great feature.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable, stable, clean sound . . .
but not spectacular sound. I use with MP3 so there's not a lot of power going to these phones. Yes, very light but seem better made than most. Read more
