A Fun Soundtrack For a Fun Movie!, May 17, 2003
I just got this soundtrack, and it's great. I can't really compare it to anything else, because it's very different from other recent movie soundtracks.1. Down With Love - 9.5/10 This is a cute song, and a great way to start off the soundtrack! 2. Barbara Arrives - 9.5/10 A fun track, that has a great 60's beat. 3. Fly me to the Moon - 10/10 Frank Sinatra is not my favorite, but he makes this song a classic. Not to mention the fact that it's very catchy. 4. One Mint Julep - 9.2/10 Like "Barbara Arrives" it is a orchestrated song. 5. For Once in My Love - 9/10 Performed by Michael Buble, another good song, not as good as "Fly me to the moon". 6. Girls Night Out - 8.5/10 A short track, that is only a minute long, but it's still good. 7. Everyday is a Holiday (With you) - 8.8/10 I almost gave this a 9, but it just is not as good as other sung songs. That doesn't mean it's bad, though. Has a different feeling then the other tracks, but stays with the time period. 8. Kissing a Fool - 9.5/10 Another song performed by Michael Buble. It's a ballad, and again a classic. The second half of the song is better. 9. Barbara Meets Zip - 9.5/10 Another orchestrated piece. I like how these orechestrated songs (all done by Marc Shaiman) all have that 60's bounce in them. This piece really songs like something out of the 60's. This is one of the longer songs on the soundtrack, at 4:08 sec. 10. Fly me to the Moon - 8.5 This time it's sung by Astrud Gilberto, not as good as the original version, but still good. This version is not as slow, as the other. 11.Love in Three Acts - 9.5/10 Another Marc Shaiman piece. Once again, very good. Melody changes from fast and up beat to slow in the middle of the song, then goes back to being up beat . This is the longest song on the album ccoming in at nearly 7 min. 12. Here's to Love - 10/10 Renee Zelleweger and Ewan McGregor sing this song. They have both been in musical movies recently, and because of that, they asked the movie makers if they could do a song on the end of this movie. I'm glad they did, because it's a great way to end the movie, and the soundtrack. If you like 60's music, or even if you don't, this is fun for everyone. I was not even alive in the 60's and I still love it. If your still unsure about buying this, go see the movie.
