The MP3-friendly player features a 5-inch LCD configured in a widescreen (16:9) aspect ratio whose dimensions closely approximate those of your favorite contemporary movies. A high-capacity rechargeable lithium battery (included) keeps your discs spinning for hours between charges, and the player also comes with separate AC and DC power adapters for use indoors, in cars and boats--you name it. Using it on the go? You'll appreciate the player's anti-skip protection for uninterrupted viewing or listening.

The MDP-5861 also offers built-in stereo speakers for headphones-free listening and compatibility with DVD-Video (either PAL or NTSC), CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3-encoded discs. Watch slideshows of your digital photos on Kodak Picture CDs. Dolby Digital 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's optical digital-audio output for direct connection to a compatible audio/video receiver.

A choice of S-video and composite-video outputs simplify hookup with other components, making the MDP-5861 as suitable for home use as for portable viewing. A supplied wireless remote control is just as useful within your home or without. Headphones are not included.

I purchased this portable dvd player after shopping around and checking all my options, i wanted something cheap, good quality and that would last, Let me tell you i got what i was looking for i bought this and instantly got in the car for a 5 hour trip, all i did was get it out plug it into the cig.lighter and away she went. I put it to the test with dvds like star wars and lord of the rings that have high sound and picture quality, it blew me away how great it was, then i popped in some cds i had burned and they played great. The trip was long and bumpy and this thing never skipped. The battery last very long 3-4 and takes about that time to charge. Plug some headphones into this and the sound is better then some tvs. What i like to do is put Subtitles on which has the words at the bottom of the screen so i know when to mute the languag.

It comes with a nifty little remote that works great. Everything about this dvd player is great, no complaints here, people complain about the battery and say its to big and flimsy but its not, you hook the battery on and secure it then put the battery cable (about 2 inches long) in the power whole, its great for those people who dont wanna read the instructions.
GREAT BUY I RECOMMEND TO ALL !

The product worked nicely - easy to set up and use, nice picture and sound. But I purchased this portable DVD player in August. Within a month I had to send it back for repairs, as the power connection and headphone connection jacks were loose. I was lied to three times by the customer service department who said my unit shipped and then it turned out it didn't. By the time I receive the supposedly new unit, I will have been without it for nearly 2 months because of their poor customer service. Watch out!

I bought the Mintek through Amazon because I had planned a trip for the holidays and wanted to use it on the flight. The price seemed reasonable compared with other players. From the day I received the player it failed to work. Initially it loaded the DVD (the Godfather) but immediately began skipping. After about 15 minutes it froze and refused to play at all! When I turned it off and re-booted the disk it displayed "Loading" but froze and never loaded the disk. This occurred with every disk it put in. Mintek tech support was inept and useless and the user manual was no help. I returned the player for a refund. I recommend you stay away from Mintek products.
