This lens adds a completely manual lens to the line-up of lenses for the XL1. Focus, zoom and aperture scales are similar to broadcast lenses.
Product Description
Adapted from Canon's line of world-renowned broadcast TV lenses, the XL 14X Full Manual Zoom Lens was designed to expand on the XL1's capabilities. Conforming to Canon's exclusive XL lens mount specifications, the video lens electronically communicates with the camera body. Unlike other commercial lenses, which render specific camera features inoperable, Canon's 14X lens exchanges data with the camera body, permitting the use of functions that include AE Shift, Auto White Balance, Exposure Lock and Slow Shutter Speeds. Suppressing chromatic aberration often found in high magnification lenses of inferior quality, Canon applied low dispersion glass that maintains the highest quality in color, clarity and contrast throughout the full zoom range. The lens also offers a focal length of 5.7 - 80mm, f/1.6 - a 35mm film camera focal length equivalent of 41 to 577mm - and achieves high resolution. In addition to distance, zoom and aperture lens markings, the lens provides manually controlled features that include Zoom, Focus and Iris.
