Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Zenith's 60-inch P60W38 HD-ready television uses groundbreaking gas-plasma display technology to deliver superior image clarity, color, and brightness in widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio), large-format television that's less than 4 inches thick. Load up your home theater gear and plug in your PC: the P60W38 handles most, with a total of five video source inputs and two accompanying audio inputs.
The Benefits of HDTV
Standard TVs (SDTVs) display a maximum of 480 lines using the interlaced scan method, which creates a picture with alternating lines of information.
Enhanced-definition TVs (EDTVs) display a maximum of 480 lines using the progressive-scan method, which creates an image using consecutive lines of information for a crisp, flicker-free picture.
High-definition TVs (HDTVs) display a maximum of either 1,080 interlaced lines or 720 progressively scanned lines for the sharpest possible image.

With a plasma screen you get vivid colors like you've never seen before, extremely wide viewing angles (wider, even, than those of most LCD screens), and easy placement due to a plasma monitor's slim profile--the P60W38 is a mere 3.9 inches deep, perfect for desk or wall mounting (please be aware that both table stand and mounting kit are optional). Brightness tends to be extremely uniform across plasma screens, which are also impervious to the picture distortion and negative color balances that afflict CRT monitors when placed near lighting or sound systems.

The P60W38's 1,280 x 720 resolution produces extremely detailed imagery, while its super-sharp (1,000:1) contrast ratio delivers rich colors and deep blacks. The set's amazingly high (1,000 cd/m2) brightness gives you an incredibly bright picture, even in well-lit areas.

Aspect-ratio correction lets you resize video and computer images to either 16:9 widescreen or 4:3 conventional formats, while Zenith's Intelligent Image Scaling employs a Faroudja/Sage scan converter to seamlessly convert TV video data to PC formats without distortion or cropping of images (in either 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratios).

RS-232 controls and NTSC, HD, VGA, SVGA, XGA, and SXGA inputs makes the unit compatible with DVD players, VCRs, computers, digital broadcasting, multimedia, and traditional video sources.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Expected, February 25, 2005
By Tracy Cales (Elkhart, IN USA) - See all my reviews
I have not had a good history with the past Zenith products that I have bought, but I thought I would give this tv a chance. I did, and I am thankful for it. The picture is very clear and the sound is wonderful. I have had it for a couple of months now, and have had no problems with it. I recommed it to anyone who is skeptical about buying it because of the brand.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor Durability, January 15, 2008
Great picture for daytime sports. Poor pixilation for night time movie scenes. Screen failed after 3 years of very light use with vertical black lines running from mid-screen to bottom that ruin the picture. Not recommended for durability reasons.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY ZENITH !!, February 16, 2007
By J. Vera (Houston, TX) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Prior to buying the TV we had a 27" CRT TV that lasted 19 years. So we decided to buy a new TV since it was getting old. So in 1/17/2004 we bought a 40" Projection TV with a 2 years extended warranty. The TV has been performing great and we have been very happy with it until just last week when we noticed "blue shadows" all over the screen.
After looking over the manual and adjusting the convergence, no success.

To fix this TV outside of its warranty will cost over $1,000 dollars, and with prices on TV's dropping it makes no sense to send it in for repair. It has basically become a disposable TV. We are very disappointed that our TV has only lasted 3 years. I'm sending it to Goodwill.

I'm very disappointed that Zenith will not stand behind their products. My only mistake was not researching Zenith TVs prior to buying since I had full faith in the brand.

I found other people on the internet with the same exact problem !!

I'm sorry to say this was my last Zenith TV.

The reason I bought this TV is that I was moving into my apartment and my 1989 TV was breaking down. I had to take it to six repair shops just to see the picture. Read more
