The Life And Loves Of DJ Tiesto, August 30, 2003
Tijs Verwest aka DJ Tiesto's first commercially available DVD is finally released for general sale, entitled "Another Day At The Office", and it truly is what all DJ Tiesto Fans have been waiting for! The main feature of the DVD is a 76 minute documentary, which portrays Tiesto as a very relaxed and calm artist who is very passionate about his work, and his passion comes through his songs that are included in the documentary (mainly taken from his "In My Memory" and "Nyana" albums) and his interviews in which he discusses his biography...how he managed to become the world's premier DJ from starting out from getting his first decks and being a mobile DJ, to playing in Clubs, owning his own record shop, remixing songs for people such as Sarah McLachlan, The Dave Matthews Band and Moby, and producing his own compositions. The DVD also includes 68 minutes of extra features, including a 44 minute interview, in which he discusses both important issues, such as his giving helpful advice to aspiring DJs, and his views on drug taking in the club scene, to more trival issues, such as his pet cat! Also included in the bonus footage are the videos for "Flight 643" (Tiesto discusses the origin of the title in one of his many interviews) and "Lethal Industry". Omitted from the DVD are his videos for "Suburban Train / Urban Train" and "643 (Loves On Fire)" as he states that "they do not portray him as he is," whereas the two videos which are included are shot in Israel and Amsterdam, Holland, and show him as he wants to be seen...being a great DJ and remixer, and also a great performer, who performs with a great intensity and passion! I would recommend the DVD to all trance lovers out there, but if you like hard house/drum 'n bass..this may not be for you. It may be argued by some die-hard Tiesto fans that there is not enough of his live sets in the DVD package, but as the DVD is a documentary, this argument should not be valid; the main feature does its what it has set out to do and has come out with the goods, it features a few clips of live sets most notibly those from "ID&T Innercity" and his favourite residancy/club "Cream Amnesia" in Ibiza interwoven with the interviews to create a very well compiled/produced DVD. I cannot wait for the two DVDs out in September of his Concert!
