Editorial Reviews

Product Description

Generations of American children sat in dark classrooms and absorbed wisdom in the form of 16mm educational films. Through the flicker of dim projector bulbs and the warble of optical soundtracks a blueprint for better living in the Atomic Age was spelled out in no uncertain terms. Fantoma presents this collection of patriotic films and Cold War classics.

Revel in the American way of life, get a glimpse at vintage Homeland Security and learn what you can do for your country in such films as: Day of Thanksgiving, Duck & Cover, Red Nightmare, and You Can Change The World (featuring Bob Hope & Jack Benny!)

4.0 out of 5 stars Required viewing for all true American Patriots!, January 25, 2004
By Bryan Barrow (Santa Cruz, CA USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)    (VINE VOICE)
Watching this DVD brought back memories of "Duck and Cover" drills of my childhood. Some of the films are quaint, some charming, some funny. A few are scary...especially "Despotism", made in 1945, at the end of WW2. This 10 minute film systematically compares the characteristics of a free, democratic society, with those of a police state. Watching it now, in the era of the Patriot Act, etc. made me shiver with how chillingly close the USA is coming to this film's description of despotism. It must be seen to be believed!
