Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description
Audiovox's affordable and portable D1501 features a 5.8-inch, 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio LCD and compatibility with DVD-Video, VCD/SVCD, audio CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3-encoded discs. Take your favorite movies and music on the plane, on the bus, or even in the car for the kids--a supplied adapter lets you power the unit right from your dashboard cigarette lighter, and the unit sports two separate headphone jacks for tandem viewing. The unit also includes a full-function remote control for hassle-free operation in tight quarters.

Composite-video and stereo analog-audio inputs and outputs let you hook the player up to your other audio/video gear for viewing on your TV or--as with video games--through the D1501's own screen. All audio and video inputs and outputs are of the minijack .125-inch size, so compatible adapter cables are required (one stereo analog audio and one composite-video cable and one AV cable are supplied).

The included rechargeable NiMH battery pack provides up to three hours of playback (power consumption depends on the operations of the player, such as screen brightness, volume level, etc.). The battery pack features high storage capacity and low susceptibility to degradation, as the NiMH batteries don't have a "memory effect," making it safe to recharge them regardless of whether they're fully or only partially spent. Generally, the batteries need about five hours for complete charging.

Playback options include frame-by-frame slow motion, zoom, and multiple-angle viewing (with applicable discs). Headphones are not included.

What's in the Box
DVD player, AC to DC adapter, remote control with battery, instruction manual, 1 audio cable, 1 video cable, 1 audio/video cable, cigarette lighter adapter, and rechargeable NiMH battery.

Product Description
Audiovox 5.8" Portable DVD player allows you to watch DVD's wherever you are. Perfect for use in the car, at a hotel, or on a plane. 3 hour battery , audio/video cables and cigarette lighter adapater are all included.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great player!!!, October 23, 2003
By A Customer
Excellent player....awesome picture quality....easy to use. It comes with car battery adapter. The battery actually lasts 3 hours like advertised!. It also plays DVD-R media which many players do not. The speakers in the unit are loud and good quality. If you choose to use headphones, and there are two ports, the sound is awesome!!!
I will buy more of these to give as gifts this Christmas!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the best....But DEF. worth the price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, July 26, 2004
Lately, ive had this obession with portable dvd players. I dont even need one, but they are just so COOL. Everytime i go to Best Buy, Circuit City,etc.... im always in the Car Section messing with the portable dvd players. Now, ive seen the best..and ive seen the worst, so i can rate this dvd player with confidence. I was VERY skeptical about buying this DVD player, but what can i say...im cheap, and dont wanna spend an arm and a leg getting something that will probably improve in 6 months anyways. Although ...I am extremely satisfied with this little dvd player.

The quality of picture is about an 8/10 in my opinion.
The battery only lasts for 3 hours and u have to charge it for 5 hours. Although i normally just plug it in an outlet anyways.
You dont need batteries for the remote, which makes use much more convienent. The sound is excellent with or without headphones. 2 people can use their headphones at once, unlike many others that only have 1 slot for headphones.

The design is OK. i dont like how the speakers are right under the screen, but i guess that doesnt really matter.

Ive had this player for about 2 months now, and it hasnt skipped or froze even once. I actually enjoy watching movies on this little thing now more than on my computer on tv, just because i can move around.

All i can say is that the price is great and is good for beginners b/c it resists alot of wear and tear (very durable).

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good for the Money, October 6, 2004
By Weatherman (Northeast, Pennsylvania, USA) - See all my reviews

Not a bad DVD Player for the money! Can't find this model in many stores, but it is currently sold and popular. I had it over a month now. The first one had a small white dot that came on the center of the screen (Very annoying) whenever the power went on. Called Audiovox and told it was a Defective/burnt pixel and to return it. I called Amazon and the were great to send out another! Also the first had many parts missing (including the battery) and the DVD box was not sealed.

Otherwise, the battery lasts a good 2 hours, sometimes up to three as advertised. More if the volume is lower or headphones are used and screen is not bright. Also comes with regular AC electric cable and an adapter for the car (many do not have this one, read small print).

The screen is good. Mind as well say it's 6 inches. I'd not go smaller as the movies always play smaller than the screen is. But it's easy to read words. Remote is good.

One drawback is I'd like to see the volume on the remote. But then again with something this size it's usually not across the room like a regular TV.

Lightweight, especially without the battery. I've used it for drives in the car, laying on the couch (when someone else has the TV), even in the backyard. Volume is good without the headphones, but I'd advise to purchase a pair as it helps and also helps preserve the battery (if you use the battery).

If you're looking for an average priced portable DVD and don't want to break your pocketbook, yet have one that works and has everything you need to use (but headphones but they're cheap), be it in hotel, car or home then this one is for you.
