Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description
Whether you have crates of old vinyl or you're a collector of the modern pressings of independent labels, now is the time to put your records back into your listening rotation. The Denon DP-29F Analog Turntable includes a built-in RIAA phono equalizer that makes it a breeze to connect to your home entertainment system via a standard analog connection.

Bring back your vinyl collection with Denon's DP-29F turntable. Take a closer look at the controls.
The DP-29F has been precision made with rigid die-cast aluminum to provide uniform inertial mass for perfectly stable turntable rotation, an essential component of high-fidelity sound during playback. Without stable rotation, your records just won't sound as good as they should. The turntable also employs an automated system that starts playing the record with a single touch of a button, and it finishes playing at the end of the record by returning the tone arm to its original position and stopping the rotation. This system ensures that you do not inadvertently scratch your records when you play them. However, you can still manually lift the tone arm and place the needle on the record where you want, so you can easily skip to your favorite song in the middle of a side.

The DP-29F includes a built-in phono equalizer to connect the unit to an integrated amp that does not have its own equalizer. This turntable is powered by a DC servo motor and belt-drive system and can be operated at either 33 1/3 or 45 rpm speed. Last, but not least, the DP-29F comes with an MM cartridge so that you can begin to enjoy your record collection as soon as you connect the DP-29F to your home hi-fi system.

What's in the Box
Turntable, turntable platter, rubber platter mat, dust cover, user's manual, and warranty/registration information.

The DP-29F includes a built-in RIAA phono equalizer, so you can hook it up to your system through a standard analog connection. And if your receiver does have a phono input, a small switch beneath the platter disengages the equalizer. 1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money., March 21, 2006
This unit is comical - really. Imagine a "hi fi" turntable that doesn't allow you to install another cartridge. Imagine a "hi fi" turntable that doesn't have a tonearm with a counter balance weight and anti-skate control. Aren't these "basic features"? This thing is a glorified "close and play" made of cheap plastic. Denon should be ashamed of itself for putting it's name on such a low end product. And by the way, the sound quality is equally lame. I guess you get what you pay for, but I expected a decent level of quality from a unit with Denon's name on it. Seriously, this unit isn't worth more than $50. You would be better off buying something used. I didn't do my homework on this unit, and I got burned. Thanks, Denon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good deal for the money, March 20, 2005
By wrenhunter (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews
I've had this for a few weeks now and love it. It's a fine turntable for a casual listener: simple operation, good sound. Note: there is a switch to disable the built-in pre-amp (which provides a good signal) if your receiver has a phono input.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much less plastic than other plastics for $150... And plays, March 12, 2005
By lew "lwndw123" (Connecticut, USA) - See all my reviews
You cannot buy REAL turntable for $150. You buy a crap. But Denon crap is much less crap that others within the same price range. It looks plastic, but plays pretty well. I had other piece of plastic, worth $150, reputable manufacturer, looking nicer, "silver" plated, lot of gadgets etc. I sold it on garage sale. 10 bucks.

I am using Denon to copy my 25 years old LPs to CD. Will not spend $500 or more for this. This model is perfect for this purpose. By the way, has the pre-amp built in. How many modern amplifiers have "phono" input?...

This turntable is about as sturdy as a piece of plastic - err, well, that's because it IS a piece of plastic. Not recommended.
