4.0 out of 5 stars An Interesting Collection of Music, September 24, 2004
By Richard Lamery (Charlestown, NH United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I became a real fan of this band probably just over a year ago. Now, I've become a purist. And I'm in the near-finished stages of making my own Greatest Hits album. Because this one just won't do it for me.

One reviewer here said "all the hits are here." That they are not.

I absolutely can't believe this band's biggest hit "I Must Increase My Bust" is missing. And in it's place is the inclusion of a non-single like "Marijuana in Your Brain". It's not a fair trade, not at all. Or at least it would have been if another great Lords of Acid non-single had been included here. Such as the 'Most Wonderful Girl' of the newest Farstucker album- "Stripper", or the iconic "Young Boys".

I actually get the impression that this CD is not really being marketed to fans of the band, but rather listeners who have yet to get into them.

Of course this compilation has it's upsides. The inclusions of 3 brand new Lords tracks- "Gimme Gimme" is the new single and surprisingly the least of these new songs, "Stoned on Love Again" features a terrific male vocalist, and "Nasty Love" is arguably the best.

Also missing are "Hey Ho!" from Lust, and "Lover Boy / Lover Girl" from Farstucker. Plus this CD only totals 64 minutes. That's more than 14 minutes unused that could be occupied by at least 3 more songs. More than enough room to throw in those 3 most important missing tracks- "I Must Increase My Bust", "Young Boys", and "Lover Boy / Lover Girl".

This item is worth buying for the extra tracks and the music video, but it's not a definitive Greatest anything of this band.

At least if the new tracks here are any indication of the direction in which the band may be heading, there's something to look forward to down the road. I'm hooked on "Nasty Love"!

4.0 out of 5 stars Praise the Lords., August 30, 2005
As with most artists, a collection is a good place to start, or end. No problems with what's here, and for the most part it's aggressive techno. "Gimmie Gimmie" is an excellent track, and a good start to the disc. "Pussy" is classic LOA, and "Crablouse" is hardcore and catchy. "Am I Sexy?" has kind of 60's retro feel, and was also on one of the Austin Powers soundtracks. Track after track is great, there are few low-points, and it ends with the wonderful "Nasty Love". I only really wish "I Must Increase My Bust" made the cut. I mean really, who couldn't go for more t*ts?

5.0 out of 5 stars Just a casual listener, March 3, 2004
I'm not really a big LOA fan but it doesn't mean that I don't like them by all means. I became familiar with a few songs of theirs back in the mid to late '90s when I was in college. What I can really appreciate Lords of Acid is that they have quite the perverse sense of humor. Obviously the song titles speaks volumes especially in songs like "Scrood Bi U" (a messed up version of Marilyn Monroe's "I Wanna Be Loved By You") and "P***y". One of my personal favorite LOA songs is the catchy "I Sit on Acid". I bought "Greatest T*Ts" primarily for that song as well as for "Am I Sexy" and "Crablouse". I found myself enjoying the rest of the cd immensely. Not only are the songs are hilarious lyrically but the music is a good blend of techno and industrial music. I used to think they were cheesy but after listening to "Greatest T*Ts", the band has grown on me considerably. I am a fan. After the Super Bowl halftime controversy, I think Janet Jackson should hook up with Lords of Acid. They can provide the music and she can strip.
