In addition to measuring weight, the scale checks body fat percentages using Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis, a series of safe low-level electrical signals transmitted through the soles of the feet. The scale displays both readings at once, and indicates where your readings fall within the healthy range for your body type. Initial programming takes a few steps, but Tanita’s instruction manual and clear prompts make this simple. Suitable for individuals from age 7 to adult with inactive to athletic lifestyles, the scale features a tempered glass platform for durability and a sleek dark gray and silver frame. It is not intended for pregnant women or people who wear pacemakers.
Able to store data and recent readings for up to four individuals, the scale is a good choice for families. It also includes a guest mode for one-time users and a weight-only functionality. The unit’s 2-1/4-inch-square LCD monitor is generously sized, while the platform accommodates large feet easily.
