Not Bad, Not Great, November 18, 2003
You'll need your chapter up/down button to watch this Dvd. 12 playmates are featured, only 6 deserve to be called Playmates, they are: Lani Todd (who nails the Marilyn Monroe innocence and charm in her vignette), Marketa Janska, Carmella Decesare, Teri Marie Harrison, Shallan Meiers and Laurie Fetter. Implant Queens Charis Boyle and Rebecca Ramos have no right being on this disc at all, hit the skip button as soon as they come up. And could someone please explain to me how an average looking Christina Santiago wins playmate of the year over a Goddess such as Lani Todd. It's Lani Todd's vignette that makes the disc worth buying. Lani knocks on a unsuspecting neighbors door (with an ice bucket and a electric fan in hand), looking like Marilyn's twin and asking to use his tub to cool off. She looks so cute who could possible say no. Lani's hot and the vignette actually has a plot to it. Teri Harrison is also a standout with her surfer girl looks and beautiful smile. The only major complaint I have with this disc is its too short. Playboy should dump the retro calendar in the extras and triple the length of Lani's and the other 5 good girls videos.

Has its Moments, But Sub-par Overall, April 9, 2004

First of all, I'd call this a 2 1/2 star effort, but since I know Playboy can do better if they actually try I'm rounding down rather than up. I agree with the other reviewers who say that Playboy doesn't pick Playmates like they used to. Lani Todd is definitely the highlight of this DVD. Teri Harrison, Carmella DeCesare(sexiest sounding name ever), and Laurie Fetter are also pretty good here as well. As for the rest of the Playmates, it either comes down to good-looking Playmates that the camera work/scenes just don't do justice to, Playmates that while attractive by normal standards probably shouldn't have been chosen as Playmates, or a mixture of both. Christina Santiago for instance; unlike other reviewers here I thought she was a worthy choice for Playmate of the Year and maybe the best choice since Heather Kozar. But the setting and camera work in her final scene... ugh. Let's just say that if you're expecting something like Jodi Ann Patterson's stunning bath scene with the maids you won't find it here. The camera work is also a problem throughout most of this DVD. It just doesn't get us many good shots of the Playmates. And I'm not talking about sleazy stuff; I definitely wouldn't want to see Playboy ever go in that direction(there's plenty of other sources for that if it's your thing.) We get the same handful of uninspired poses throughout most of this DVD, and if you want to get a nice view of your favorite Playmate's (...) you won't find many here- even something as simple and basic as that is a rare commodity on this DVD. Overall, the combination of a somewhat sub-par group of Playmates and poor camera work make this a forgettable effort from Playboy. If you're looking for a Playmate Calendar, then buy the 2000 one instead. If you already have that one, then get 2001. If you have those and really want a new one, then I suppose you could do worse. Just don't expect much.

Pretty good Calendar from Playboy, though overall not as good as the previous couple of years. The highlights are Charis Boyle (why was she omitted from the end credits?), Teri Harrison and Marketa Janska. Carmella DeCesare and Penelope Jimenez are also good, as is Lani Todd who capitalises on the Marilyn Monroe look. You have to wonder how Christina Santiago came to be voted Playmate of the Year ahead of Christi Shake (gorgeous on last year's Calendar DVD) or Teri Harrison. Christina's final vignettes are something of a disappointment for PMOY. There's some good music featured, and Playboy have fortunately managed to avoid those white light fright comedy vignettes that have appeared in past years. Also good to see beautiful natural hands. Still worth investing.
