Crescent - Cackt - Sugoi naa!, May 25, 2005
I am a new fan of Gakuto-san. When I first heard his "Rebirth" CD, I thought nothing could get better than this. Clearly I was wrong. Gackt's "Crescent" unquestionably surpassed "Rebirth". I was completely blown away by this CD. This albumn is just so powerful and mesmorizing. I enjoy Gackt's slower songs more than the ones with heavy instruments, so "Crescent" is such a pleasant treat to my ears.
This CD has about 5 heavy instrumental songs and 7 slower songs. Each song was performed with such perfection that while you listen to them, you cannot help but admire Gackt's strong strive for perfection for his music.
Once at an interview, Gackt said that the only thing he wants to acheive with this music is to be able to convey his feelings and his emotions to the audice through his music and his words. Well, there is no doubt that he certainly has acheived this goal. When listening to Gackt's music, you can automatically feel such a strong emotion flowing out of his voice, his words and his music. There are several slow songs on this CD that could bring me to tears. With that said, I guess I don't need to emphasize on how talented Gackt is as a song writer.
Each song on this CD is my favorite, but here are several that stand out most.
1. Dybbuk - I like it because it's so different. It has a little bit of punk and rap. Gackt's voice is excellent in this track, although he only sung two or three lines.
2. Mind Forest - I really enjoy this song because of the background music. The tune of the song resembles a lot of "Last Song" in this albumn
3. Solitary - One of the best songs where Gackt shows off his beautiful vocal strength. The soft accustic at the background sounds just like a breeze, all you can hear is Gackt's voice.
4. Lust for Blood - Anohter great heavy instrumental song. The beginning part is just so powerful that it seems to want to take you to the journey of darkness.
5. Last Song - This song is hands-down my favorite of Gackt. The emotion in this song is just so strong that it overwhelms me to listen to it more than once. If you catch Gackt's live performance of this song, watch how into this song he is when he is performing.
6. Orange Sun - Last but no the least, this song is another 9 minute long powerful performance, this time, it is done with Hyde. I think you have to watch Moon Child to fully appreciate this song. It's almost like telling a story with the song. Hyde's voice is lower and softer than Gackt's, so this combination of vocals is perfect. I hope they do more songs together later.
This is a must-have CD if you are a Gackt's fan, or if you are just curious who Gackt is. You will not regret it.

Absolutely Perfect, December 13, 2004
This album is the first Jpop album I've ever bought and I don't regret buying it. All the songs have their own unique style and none are the same. The lyrics of the song are just beautiful and they have true meaning to it and the music in the background (and the words Gackt sings) are just wonderful. They just make you cry out for more of his beautiful songs.
I recommend this CD to any new Gackt fan or if you're new to Japanese pop songs this is the CD to buy. Personal favorites are "Lust For Blood", "Kima Go Oikateka Yume", "Mind Forest", and "Orenji No Taiyou". They all score 10,000/10 on my scale.

Gackt - - a truly versatile musician., December 19, 2004
I've been a fan of Gackt since I first began listening to Japanese rock music. Now, that isn't to say I'm his adoring, raving fangirl, and that I would stalk him if given the chance. No, I'm simply a fan.
As a fan, I would recommend this CD. While it's not as much "pop" as "soft rock" (a change-over from his previous music stylings), it's an album worth owning. It has many different sounds, and takes you through many different emotions as you move along the tracks.
A lot of people are complaining about his music these days, wishing for the return of "Mars". I, for one, prefer "Crescent" to any of his previous releases. We'll see about the future.
If you like Gackt, buy this album; you won't regret it.
