For all guitar fans: this album is an essential guitar album. Don't miss it.

Product Description

A mighty Jazz Guitar CD. "The Gift" is a tantalizing blend of Smooth and Be-Bop jazz served over warm R&B beats and "Widescreen" orchestral backdrops. Beautiful compositions, excellent musicianship and real heart make "The Gift" an album you'll want to hear time and time again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Chill Jazz Gutar Album, May 20, 2004
By A Customer
The first I heard of Jon Dalton was his track "The Gift" on a net radio station, I was bowled over by his stunning, gentle jazz guitar playing and the tight R&B style beats. I bought "This Is Smooth Jazz The Box Set" which featured the track and then this CD. The Gift is still my favorite track and I play it over and over. There are lots of other subtle grooves all laid over with faultless guitar work. If you like Chris Botti's latest work and chill jazz like Praful this is the kind of CD you'll really enjoy.
Together with those other names Dalton represents the new wave of smooth jazz music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smoothjazz.com Review, July 26, 2004
By Sandy Shore (Monterey, CA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Here's an outstanding guitar disc for you to add to your Smooth Jazz Essentials list! Jon Dalton is an amazing guitarist, with a warm, rich, melodic sound. He's now based in Southern California, after a successful musical career in the U.K. Jon's phrasing and tone is reminiscent of the late Wes Montgomery, or Kenny Burrell, or, yes, even one of my all-time favorites, Johnny Smith, especially on the last track, the beautiful "A Gift Returned." There's a wealth of good music on THE GIFT, from start to finish. I especially like the title track, which sounds to me like a no-need-to-question-it, Smooth Jazz smash hit. Then there's the romantic "Napoli," the very cool "Champosium,' and the film-noir-ish "Master of Complications," featuring some nice, mellow sax-work from John Barton. "Webs," an ultra-lyrical mid-tempo ballad, is another potential Smooth Jazz smash hit. Jon Dalton's aim for THE GIFT, in his own words, is "to combine the rich harmonic elements of traditional jazz guitar with up-to-the-minute production sounds and the sonic depth of film music." Bulls-eye! He says he hopes it's "an album that people will cherish and play time and time again and that with each hearing another layer of music and emotion will be revealed." Once again... Bulls-eye! Jon Dalton's THE GIFT is a beautifully constructed album that is more than worthy of inclusion in your library. It gets an unqualified thumbs-up from me! ~Scott O'Brien/Smoothjazz.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Smooth Jazz!!, January 2, 2005
By smoothjazzandmore (Clay, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This is another artist that was from musicSUBMIT.com and probably the best one provided. I really enjoyed the music sample provided (The title track, "The Gift") and requested his music for evaluation. His guitar style will remind you of smooth jazz guitarists, Brian Hughes & Joyce Cooling. It's very smooth and easy to listen to. The tracks are very professionally made and are of high quality. Some other highlights are the tracks, "You Can't Do That" & "Westory". This is an outstanding CD.
