Does the pool have any leaks or does it come uninflated easily?
i had a barbie pool with a leak once. OOOOOOOOH, was it a mess!

No, this does not need batteries. I don't even recall what the wave maker thing is, the shower works by pouring water into the palm tree I believe. The waves are probably some manual thing you have to do. I bought it for a 4 year old and she enjoys it. It is one of those darn toys that you put together and then have to fight to get it apart to fit back in the box. Just the other day my daughter wanted the pool out that comes with it She was satisfied with just putting the blow up pool in the back yard and putting her Polly Pockets in it. Great for the summer when kids will play outside and you don't care what gets wet. I don't regret the purchase and my child enjoys it.
