The developers at YC Chocolatier have created this low carbohydrate sugar free Dark Bar with no artificial colorings, flavors, preservatives or sweeteners. There are no trans fatty acids and our plant is peanut free. YCs confections also match or exceed the finest chocolates in taste and texture. YC Sugar Free has satisfied natural food retailers established criteria for what they consider to be Natural and clean. Our Sugar Free products meet the FDA sugar free requirement not to exceed 0.5% sugar from any source, per serving size and are lactose (milk sugar) free. YC's cacao beans have been properly grown, harvested, fermented, dried, blended, roasted, winnowed, refined, conched and tempered, to create their own unique intense chocolate taste. The sweetener used in our confections is Maltitol  a non sugar sweetener that comes from corn. It is about 90% as sweet as sugar and is non-cariogenic. Maltitol is mostly not digested and therefore, like fiber, the Maltitol carbohydrates listed on the nutritional panel should be deducted from the Total Carbohydrates to arrive at the net digested carbohydrates. This results in 2g of carbohydrates per 42g serving in the Dark Bar. This product is therefore particularly useful for those looking for a low carbohydrate confection. Our confections do not raise blood serum glucose and are therefore also suitable for diabetics. Because we use a minimal amount of Maltitol, the usual laxative effect is all but eliminated.

My wife and I are dark chocolate snobs (Scharffenberger and Organic Trader Joe's Dark are our favorites) and so when we went low-carb we began hunting for alternatives. Everything we tried was sorely lacking, either with an odd taste, bad texture, or causing serious stomach upset. But, we tried this one out and lo and behold, it's excellent! If I was going full carb, I'd still take the Scharffen, but for low-carb or sugar free this one is oustanding. On top of that, their customer service was proactive, excellent, notifying me of a slight delay in shipping and actually refunding my shipping costs! You don't find good service everyday and this was GREAT service.

Great product plus great service = winning combination for me! Try them for yourself.

Purchased this bar along with the almond bars. Both were amazing and I will purchase again. I have tried them all, but these are by far superior. Have liked the Pure De-lite Imported Pure Belgian Chocolate Bars in the past, but tried these and will not go back. Nothing comes close to the rich taste and texture in SugarFree and carb lite bars. At approximately $1/oz, a fair price for a great product! I also received an email from the company asking of I needed special cold shipping since I lived in Texas. I have purchased since and will buy again.

This bar is actually very good with a strong chocolate taste. It tends to be a little dry (dryer than other dark bars), but is a great sugar free choice.
