4.0 out of 5 stars I'm gonna name him 'Percy'..., February 21, 2004

Much like Hasbro's preceding Stikfas line, the Lego-like Xevoz toys are made of various separate ball-jointed components one assembles to create a five- to six-inch tall action figure. Unfortunately, the relatively large size of the Xevoz parts makes them incompatible with Stikfas. However, Xevoz are just as limber and poseable as their predecessors, sport more highly detailed sculpting (though they still have a somewhat `rough-draft/generic' look), and possess a wider spectrum of colors (in this instance grey-blue, silver gray, black, and a bit of neon green). Also, their ball joints tend to be a little tighter-fitting, which helps the finished product better maintain whatever poses you feel like puttin' it in, and keeps parts from popping off too easily. Xevoz are also surprisingly stable, and will stay upright in just about any stance.

This particular kit has all the parts needed (and then some) to build a Biomecha Sledge Trooper. Although I can't explain exactly why, this guy is my fave piece in the line of Xevoz toys. Maybe it's the love of sci-fi robots & cyborgs (no, not that kind of love you weirdos!) I've harbored since my childhood. Or it could be the interesting array of accessories this guy's got on hand. Speakin' of accessories and hands: Sledge sports an interesting array of extra carpal "attachments", including a huge humanoid hand, an ax, a small claw, a large claw, a chainsaw, some sorta blaster-looking dealie, and a missile launcher. There's even a backpack accessory that can hold up to three of these amusing extremities. The missile launcher can also be mounted on the figure as a backpack, and can fire its projectiles a decent distance-though not quite as far as I'd prefer. Then there's the head, which features a removable faceplate that hides a mass of grey matter underneath. Well, actually it's more a pinkish peach color, but why nit-pick? A second cylindrical head is included (probably the toy designer's homage to Scud the Disposable Assassin), though it isn't quite as cool-lookin' as the headline (doh!) cranium.

The only problem I've encountered with this `bot are his hip joints, which are a bit looser than the other points of articulation. Despite this looseness, ol' Sledge manages to keep his place without too much trouble when I put him in one stance or another. And it doesn't detract from the fun when I'm mergin' the guy's components with bits from other Xevoz sets, and changing him into one freaky creature after another ("It's alive... ALIVE!!!"). It's kinda like an action figure rendition of Mad Libs...

Also included are eight die sides and two endcaps one can use to create a barrel-shaped `battle helix' die for fights against opposing Xevoz figures, as well as an instruction/rules sheet on how to play the battle games. While the game is fairly fast-paced once one gets a hang of the rules, it lacks the visual impact of far more complex figurine-based RPG/battle games such as Warhammer 40K. Basically, the loser of the round simply detaches or restores a certain number of parts from his figure according to what each combatant's rolled die indicates. This goes on until one person's toy is completely disassembled. Not exactly exciting stuff, but it ain't a half-bad time-killer when you and a fellow geekin' fanboy buddy are good `n' baked, and the PS2 is on the fritz...

5.0 out of 5 stars Want a smarter kid?, June 18, 2004

Most toys now a days don't allow a kid to imagine or maximize play value. Most toys can move only a few parts and you are stuck with the story that the company comes up with. Xevoz is not like that.
These toys are completely interchangalbe with each other. You can customize the figure because of the additional parts in the package or buy another Xevoz action figure, even a different figure and mix and match. These toys work on a "build it yourself" technique of ball socket joints.

The Sledge Trooper is a robot that comes with multiple heads and weapons. The stickers included allow you customize it even figure. Plus, you these toys have a range of motion in one arm than most toys have in thier entire body.
Hands down, you or your child will get hours of play and plus it will boost the creativity and imagination of children of all ages.
Plus these toys are durable. After many, many hours of rotating, if a joint gets loose, add nail polish remover to loose part and let it dry. Wal-lay, it is like new.
Bottom Line - Greatest toy to come about for a long time and I wish I had these when I was a kid. I have bought a good bit of these and I will buy more as a collector.

You would think that this is just another robot toy that falls apart in three seconds. But under that faceplate is a dynamic toy that is worth your money( also under the faceplate is a zybernetically enhanced brain, so he's not purely robotic). He's more expensive than the basic Xevoz kits because he has more accessories. One of which is a firing rocket launcher with 2 missiles. He has assorted armor, an electroshock claw, an organic hand(that's bigger than his head), a cylindrical head in need of a dent popper, a chain saw(just in case he wants to outdo the Texas chainsaw maniac), a battle ax, a machine gun attachment, some sort of a Xetopian brass knuckles, and that missile launcher(make things go BOOM!!!!!!!). Plus, you can mix the parts of this kit with other kits. Don't forget to check out the Xevoz website(don't forget to buy this, either)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
