The Milescraft SpiroCrafter Router Pattern Cutting Kit makes thousands of designs using an indexing, multiple design template system. The SpiroCrafter allows you to use your router or rotary tool (Milescraft model 1000 Plunger required for rotary tool use) to create beautiful designs quickly and inexpensively in cabinets, deck posts or any woodworking project. Different bits will create different effects. Pattern sizes vary from three to six inches, but can be joined into much larger designs. An included pencil guide allows patterns to be completed on paper prior to cutting. The SpiroCrafter fits into a router base plate for use with 6-inch plunge routers.

After reading a couple of Internet reviews, I ordered this from Amazon. I have only experimented on a couple of pieces of MDF, but I had little trouble impressing my wife. Maybe she's easily impressed! Since I am still getting used to a plunge router, my only mistake was the depth slipping a little since I did not have it locked tight enough. No damage fortunately other than to the pattern. You may end up with a lot of extra plastic pieces. Turning the pattern is a bit of a pain since the pieces fit together rather snugly. Once you have it clamped down on the work piece, you really can't get your fingers around the template to lift it out. Hopefully over time, this will get a little wear around the edges, and the fit won't be so tight. The turn-lock base place, bushing guides, etc. are all extra pieces that I don't need. I end up with three pieces that I do need. Actually four if you count the fact the base plate is two half pieces that snaps together. Knowing this now, it seems a bit pricey for $35.00. Maybe Milescraft should offer a basic set without the turnlock plate, etc. I have to strongly disagree with another reviewer on a different Milescraft item as to their customer service. It has been great. I asked a couple of questions before purchasing the Spirocrafter concerning my base plate on a PC 891 router. Their response was very quick and courteous. I am also looking at the Signcrafter, again a courteous and quick email response in less than an hour, but I will again have a lot of extra pieces with the turnlock plate included in this also.

I have the Router sign pro, The offset Router base kit, and the spirocraft router pattern cutting kit. I use all of them in my woodshop,treat them with respect, and they work great. Haven't had a problem with none of them. If anybody has had a problem, needs to go to the book that comes with it.
