Denon's DRW-585 proves you can still enjoy quality cassette recording and playback without spending a mint. The dual-well, auto-reverse deck offers convenient features on top of Denon's acclaimed high-quality construction. Intuitive tape-editing via features like memory stop (which lets you program an automatically stop point) and normal or high-speed dubbing to copy tapes quickly (deck A to deck B at 2x normal speed).
Dolby B and Dolby C noise reduction minimize tape hiss (great for classical recordings), and you may also opt not to use them (as for music of limited dynamic range and when you want as flat a frequency response as possible). Dolby HX Pro headroom extension further minimizes tape noise while eliminating high-frequency distortion during both recording and playback.
Manual bias fine tuning helps you make sure each tape, regardless of tape type, performs optimally during recording and that each tape--especially those recorded in other decks--sounds its best on playback. Each well has its own dedicated tape counter, and Denon's thoughtful cassette backlight reveals at a glance how much tape remains on a given supply spool.
Relay Play lets you listen to the both sides of the tape in deck A followed automatically by both sides of the cassette in deck B, giving you nearly three and a half hours of uninterrupted listening from two C-100 cassettes. For recording, the DRW-585's CD synchro record function initiates recording at the moment your CD starts, simplifying mixed-tape creation or disc copies for the car.
The deck also permits hookup of an external power timer so you can wake to your favorite tape or use the deck's timer to record a high-priority radio program. Other features included auto tape selector, auto spacing, non-slip reel drives, full auto stop, a multiplex filter switch (MPX, for recording off FM stereo), and an easy-to-read fluorescent (FL) peak-hold level meter. The front panel is equipped with an infrared (IR) remote sensor for use with an optional programmable remote control.
