3.0 out of 5 stars Been There...Done That, May 24, 2004
Contrary to popular belief, you can't throw a bunch of beautiful women together, give them a dance/r&b edge and expect creative fireworks. Although One Voice have been around for quite some time, Luvin' You is their first album with California based record company Straight Hits. Because Straight Hits is an independent label, One Voice are given an independent record company sound. Much of the material sounds recycled, and i'm sure Destiny's Child has called One Voice and want their material back ASAP. The songs are typical r&b fare, and none of them standout too much. Lost love, secret love, "poison" love, and club love are all abound on One Voice's newest outing. One Voice are more effective when harmonizing on slow jams, but even those never escape the tedious "candlelight" balladry. Thankfully, One Voice decided to do without a record crammed with guest appearances, and instead want the focus to be on them.

It is quite obvious that the women of One Voice can sing-very well at that- but there is no defining moment of true vocal versatility, and the results weaken even more when the women break out into their solos. With such intense and vibrant beats as a motif of their songs, One Voice should have packed more fire in their vocal chords. Because so many vocal groups depend upon lush harmonies and even stronger front women, One Voice have a lot of work to do. Many buyers may think the sixteen track outing provides more bang for their buck, but it only makes the listener tire after a couple spins.

If One Voice, who have yet to strike any real fire on the billboard charts and radiowaves, want mainstream success, they have to up their game. They have the look, but because they sound like every other female group that came before them, they will remain confined to the Bay Area from which they came. A group of their cailber, and especially their experience, need to shy away from independent labels meant for amateur artists. One Voice is four albums deep and in doing such, should have shown a mature and poised stance on their latest effort. Until then, Destiny's Child is still awaiting their material to be handed back to them.

4.0 out of 5 stars They are back and getting popular, May 2, 2004
By Stacy Ketthavong (St. Petersburg, Fl, USA) - See all my reviews
I still remember the five girls that called themselves "One Voice" and was first heard on the radio with their never dying song "All Day All Night (Kamikaze Mix)". And I still love that song to this day!

As for this new album, it has progress more into rnb, like "Rescue Me" sounds what Beyonce would release in particular with "Baby Boi". The only song that would remind me how One Voice used to really be is "First Time".

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not the best....., May 13, 2005
By Ichikoh (California) - See all my reviews
I like One Voice because they started as a pop girl group. They had the freestyle beats and the soft and angelic voices that could harmonize right into your ears. But their last two albums, I guess they changed thier style of music from pop to R&B, maybe a growing up make over thingy. I'm not a fan of R&B, never was. So being R&Bish I give this album a 3/5. But I still love the girls.
