Product Description

Editorial Review

Magnets spur imagination in this building set from leading arts and crafts maker RoseArt. Fun and sharply designed, the set contains a series of brightly colored bars equipped with opposite polarity magnets at the tips. Small steel balls enable you to lock the pieces tightly together and assemble them into nearly innumerable arrangements. (RoseArt promises more than 500 possibilities, and provides a booklet suggesting some, including a miniature Eiffel Tower.) The set has 150 pieces and offers wonderful creative opportunities for kids. --Andy Boynton

4.0 out of 5 stars Great toy, okay value, October 29, 2004
By G. Capello (Lumberton, TX) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought my 4 year old son the 70 pc set and he absolutely loves it. The only thing is that there is not enough pieces in it for the price. I was shocked when I opened the box. The box was pretty small anyway and when I opened it, it was mostly styrofoam. The pieces are tiny and would probably be easily lost except for the fact that a) they are magnetic and stick together and b)my son thinks they are the coolest toys in the world and he fanatically keeps up with them. (That was a first for him also, he NEVER likes to put toys away, much less voluntarily.) He loves legos but he thinks these are even better. If your child loves to build things with blocks or legos he will probably like this toy, just don't be surprised when you open the box and see what 70 or 150 count really looks like.

5.0 out of 5 stars These are great, and watch out for imitations!, January 15, 2005
By Joe P (Olympia, WA) - See all my reviews
The thing that amazes me about Magnetix is the strength of the magnets. My 3 year old loves playing with them, and is learning basic physics regarding opposite poles of magnetism attracting each other, and same poles opposing each other. I wish the price was lower though. I made the mistake of buying a "magnetic construction set" that was not Magnetix brand, and it turned out to be a chinese imitation and the magnets were just 20% the strength of the Magnetix brand, so they hardly stuck together and you couldn't build tall structures. So if you and your child are into this concept, stick with the recognized name brands and watch out for the cheap imports!

4.0 out of 5 stars Expensive, but good, March 10, 2005
On the costly side, definitely. More balls ( connectors ) than
rods - don't be fooled by the "150" count.

That said, provides countless hours of fun for the young and
young at heart. It's great to the see the kids come up with
ideas -- that alone is worth the price. It's nice to watch
kids sit together and construct something.

A word of warning !

Some of the magents pop off the rods -- shoddy construction
for something you pay so much for.

Addictive - you may find yourself buying a couple more
sets to build a larger structure !
