About the Artist
Whether performing live or on recordings with Acoustic Alchemy; or as a session player for Bryan Ferry, Van Morrison, Dave Stewart and many more, youve probably heard the talented and versatile Terry Disley on the keyboards.
With fellow Brits Acoustic Alchemy he co-wrote 2 compositions for the Grammy Award nominated Back on the Case album "Fire of the Heart" and "Clear Air for Miles." He wrote "The Beautiful Game" and "Tete a Tete" for the groups Beautiful Game album and toured with them for six years (92-98), including three shows at the Catalina Island Jazz Festival. He appeared with the band on many TV shows and seven albums.
In the jazz arena Disley has appeared many times at Londons prestigious Ronnie Scotts Club alongside piano greats including McCoy Tyner, Cedar Walton and Monty Alexander playing straight ahead jazz piano with his own group. He performed with trumpet legend Eddie Henderson many times in the UK and USA.
Rock and roll is also in his repertoire and includes stadium shows with vocalist Roger Daltry of the Who and Pink Floyd guitarist Dave Gilmour. His largest audience was with Madness at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark 85,000 people. He collaborated with pop star Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) on a wide range of projects throughout the 90s, including live dates with Bootsy Collins and Candy Dulfer. He was Daves Musical Director and recorded keyboards on more than 20 albums and 4 major motion picture soundtracks.
In consistant demand as a session player, Disley has recorded with Bryan Ferry, Sir Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Sir Mick Jagger, Brian Wilson & Wilson Phillips, Van Morrison, Shakespeares Sister, Texas, Dee-Dee Bridgewater, Tom Jones, Alicias Attic, Jon Bon Jovi and many others.
He is also featured alongside Yellowjackets members Will Kennedy and Marc Russo on J Thompsons 2003 Smooth Jazz debut album Romantic Night.
In 1997 Disley moved to San Francisco and began composing, performing and recording his own projects, including his own jazz trio Three Thinking (2000-2002). In September 2003 he co-wrote music for the San Francisco Oracle World Convention and performed the piece for 15,000 people with a laser light show.
Most recently Terry played keyboards with a new group fronted by bass legend Stu Hamm of Joe Satriani fame at the NAMM show in Los Angeles (January 2004).
EXPERIENCE is Terry Disleys debut recording. The first single, "Side to Side" was entered in a competition on KKSF Radio 103.7 the Bay Areas Smooth Jazz station. The track received the most votes by a long way. 17,045 people voted for "Side to Side".
