Editorial Reviews

Product Description
This is Cross's second album for Sub Pop, and is the follow-up to 2002's Grammy-nominated "Shut Up You Fucking Baby!" On this specially priced disc, Cross continues to skewer everyone and everything in his path. "A truth teller in the noble tradition of Bill Hicks, Richard Pryor, and Lenny Bruce...as urgent and outraged as a Noam Chomsky lecture, but infinitely more entertaining"--The Onion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Big Christian, Big Fan, May 14, 2004
By A Customer
If there's one thing I love in this world, it's Christ. If there's two things I love in this world, it's Christ and David Cross's jokes! (If there's a third thing, it's my mocha-frappuccinos, but don't tell Weight Watchers!) But seriously, if you like good, clean, God-fearing comedy, this is the album for you. He does this one "bit" (or "joke") about the twelve apostles being like a professional basketball team that had me and the Mrs. in stitches -- I had to pull the Expedition over for fear of a wreck!

What's great is that David can do "edgy" religious material without offending Our Lord -- like the one he does about Heaven being like a really big picnic, except the mayonnaise never goes bad. Where does he get this stuff?! This CD is a treat for anyone with a good, Christian heart and a sense of humor (sense of humor not included! ;-)). What would Jesus do? He'd buy this album... AND LAUGH! Praise the Lord, Praise David Cross and God Bless America.

5.0 out of 5 stars Research before you complain!, July 9, 2004
By Todd (Omaha, NE) - See all my reviews
I bought this CD in Boulder CO and listened to it on my way back home... and it was hilarious. Absolutely hilarious...

For the people who have decided to write negative reviews and bash this cd, I respect your opinions, EXCEPT THAT MANY OF YOU ADMIT TO NEVER HAVING LISTENED TO THE CD! How does one complain before you know what you're complaining about?

Additionally, I also cannot stand the complaints about him getting 'off God's path' because he is an Atheist. There is no grand joyous design to him, and furthermore, he was born Jewish. So exactly what would be wrong with Jesus bashing even if he was still religious?

I rest my case.

This is a fine follow up to his earlier album, and I'm sure there are many more hilarious ones to follow.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Quite Funny (AKA The Terrorists Hate Our Freedom), September 26, 2004
I purchased this CD about a month and a half ago with an extensive, albeit Mr. Show inspired knowledge of David Cross' comedy. I'd seen a couple of comedy specials he'd done for HBO, so I sorta expected him to do a couple of skits and what-not. Man was I blown away when I heard this CD. This guy is hi-larious. His comments on politics, the war, religion and other socially relevant topics are not only remarkably prescient, but hysterically made. He skewers the right and Bush for their homophobia, hypocrisy and hatred. His rendition of Trent Lott going on BET is hysterical. If you buy any comedy CD this year, this is the one.
