"Talisman is one of the most significant a cappella groups to come...truly worthy of national and international recognition."
Product Description
Across culture, creed, race, and class, the human experience remains a constant through which all can communicate. The songs we chose to place on Watch Me Fly are Talisman's attempt to communicate the common experiences of love, loss, joy, pain, and hope through the universal medium of music. In accordance with Talisman's past, the music on this album comes from a range of cultures and experiences: protest songs from South Africa; Native American chants; a Maori love song; Negro spirituals; a jazz song about the horror of lynching. Watch Me Fly breathes life into stories old and new. The title of the album, inspired by the final track with the same name, tells us that despite our situations, there is always hope that our dreams will be realized and that we will overcome our individual and collective struggles on a move towards freedom. Heavy at times, weightless at others, Watch Me Fly is a celebration of life.
