"A hit in the head could help/Do some good/Cure my thoughts of you." Reminiscent of
Brendan Bensons everyman alt-pop, Chris Tsefalas keyboard-driven
Im All Right? is a likably straightforward album that reveals a thoughtful singer-songwriter. Deceptively modest-sounding, the 10 cuts here show that theres still charm to be found in catchy homemade rock. Outside a one-man show, its hard to imagine a more self-contained music; Tsefalas producer (John Moen) and engineer (Larry Crane) play almost everything here that he doesnt do himself. Saturated with romanticism from lyrics ("People say Im crazy/People say I should behave") to length (an LP-minded 31 minutes or so),
Im All Right? makes a turn toward equally enticing story songs near its end. Tsefalas clearly has more to say; hearing from him again will be a pleasure.
