Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The Kenwood HTB-S610 home theater in a box has all the basics you need to set up a home theater without having to deal with pesky wires. The HTB-S610 uses RF technology to wirelessly network the A/V receiver, five speakers, and subwoofer, with a vast operating range of up to 100 feet. The RF receiver unit has a built-in amplifier for the speakers, so you can enjoy movies at home with cinema-quality sound. A digital tuner is also included, with 40 station presets, and automatic and manual tuning.

The receiver provides Dolby Digital EX, DTS-ES, and Dolby Pro Logic IIx to transform two-channel music sources (like CDs or radio) into 7.1-channel with depth and clarity. Bass management, bass boost, and audio DSP listening modes give you control over the sound so you can tailor the settings to your needs. The five speakers pump out 100 watts each, and the subwoofer (with 100 watts power) gives richness and depth to music and movies.

Connect a DVD player, satellite tuner, or other components with the variety of input and options. Audio connections include one coaxial and one optical digital audio in, four stereo analog audio inputs, one optical digital and one stereo analog front panel AV/Aux input, and a pre-out for subwoofer and surround back left and right. Three composite video inputs, one front-panel composite AV/Aux input, one composite video monitor out, and one composite video record out round out the video connections.

What's in the Box
Receiver/tuner, 5 speakers, 1 subwoofer, RF transmitter, RF receiver and accessories, remote control, 2 AA batteries, user's manual, and warranty information.

Product Description

The HTB-S610 system relieves the customer of the hassle of wiring surround speakers. A wireless transmitter and receiver are packaged with the receiver along with a 5.1 speaker package. The wireless surround transmitter connects to the speaker level outputs of the VRS-6100 receiver, and sends the surround channel signal, via RF, to the wireless surround amplifier and out to the surround speakers. With the HTB-S610 home theater it is no longer necessary to run speaker wire from one side of the room to the other. The HTBS610 also features a 100W x 5 digital amplifier (receiver features surround back left and right pre-outputs for 7.1 application) and a 5.1 speaker package. The speakers are 2" full range drivers in the front (L, R, C) and single 2" full range driver for the surrounds (SL, SR) and rounding out the system is a 100W powered subwoofer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Happy listening, December 31, 2004
This is my first HTB system, so my rating might be a tad high. However, the unit seems to do everything I would want, has good documentation, color coded wires and speakers, etc. and the subwoofer can really shake the walls.

I'm using a pair of Bose 201's up front and moved the supplied fronts (with 2 cones) to the rear (single cones). Although the supplied wires are color-coded and very long for easy hookup and seem to do the job, they are pretty thin, so I spent another $10 on a roll of heavier wire.

You will want to take the time to fine-tune the settings for each speaker (including the distance from the listening position), then sit back and enjoy. There are some minor functions I have not gotten to yet.

The "wireless" is a bit deceiving as there are wires - lots and lots :-). However, it refers to the (wireless) RF transmitter which sends a signal to the receiver used for the rear speakers. So yes, the fronts, sub-woofer and RF transmitter are wired to the main receiver, and the rears with the RF receiver are wired together. The main point and objective is that you are not tripping over wires going from one side of the room to the other.

No doubt there are more powerful units with mega functions for the true audiophile, but this is a great reasonably-priced (under 375 with rebate) unit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Buy!!!, November 18, 2004
I got mine a couple of days ago...

At first, I was a little disappointed as the system is actually not "WIRELESS" in the sense that: 1)The front left, front right, and center speakers are wired like any other system. 2)You still need to wire the rear speakers to a wireless transmitter. So basically, it is not wireless!!!

However, I am very satisfied with the sound quality for a 600 (500 if you use the wireless transmitter) watts system... the subwoofer is powerful!! the sound are all crystal clear... For that amount of money, it is a must buy...

Also it looks good too!!

Cheers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Home Theater System!, September 21, 2004
The Kenwood HTB-S610 delivers on its promise. After spending the hour or so setting up the system after installation (highly recommended), the system was tuned exactly to my individual room layout. This system has the power to fill an 18 x 35 foot great room with vaulted ceiling with ground pounding sound! The sound is crystal clear across the frequency spectrum, and the numerous "listening modes" add to the experience. All this, and I didn't have to run wires for the surround speakers. The wireless transmitter/receiver combination work flawlessly. This is a must buy for anyone looking for a HTIB that has it all.
