Product Description

From the Manufacturer
From about 1428 until 1521, a culture grew in a vast land from the Gulf of Mexico to central Mexico and as far south as Guatemala. In what is now Mexico City, lay the capital of the ancient Aztec people formerly known as Tenochtitlan. Here there is a huge temple, many canals and a royal palace. A beautiful young girl with long dark hair and deep brown eyes lives in the royal palace. Like all nobles, she wears clothes made of brightly colored cotton with decorations made of gold and feathers. The most prized feathers of all are the iridescent green ones from a bird called the quetzal. This beautiful and historic version of Barbie doll as the Princess of Ancient Mexico will make a proud addition to any collection.

This is a gorgeous doll and great for a young and/or new collector. The faux turquoise jewelry is a wonderful detail. Her facial feautures are lovely. It also gives some interesting historical/cultural information on the back of the box.If you like barbies, especailly native american barbies she is a nice, not too expensive, addition to your collection.

WE LIVE ON THE BORDER OF THE NAVAJO NATION. MANY OF THE OLDER FEMALE NATIVE AMERICANS WEAR CLOTHES LIKE THIS ON A DAILY BASIS. NOW WHEN IT COMES TO THE PRINCESS OF THE NAVAJO...HERE WHERE WE LIVE SHE IS USUALLY IN A T-SHIRT AND BLUE JEANS BUT WHEN SHE APPEARS AT TRADITIONAL CEREMONIES SHE IS THE CLOTHING OF HER CULTURE. WE HAVE LIVED ON THE BORDER OF THE NAVAJO NATION FOR 23 YEARS AND I FEEL AND WELL AS MY FAMILY THAT THIS BARBIE SHOWS THE CULTURE OF THE NATIVE AMERICANS.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS ONE HITS A HOME RUN!!, January 7, 2005
Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
Coming right on the heels of Ancient Mexico and Navajo (both of which I found disappointing), Princess of Renaissance Italy is a welcome rebound. Her costume and face are absolutely gorgeous and her dark features provide nice balance with the many blonde princesses in the series. She meets and exceeds expectations set by her photos - a feat several of the other dolls in this series have not managed to pull off!
