Poetic and intelligent, the usual Illogic, May 9, 2004
As Illogic says, "Everything in hip hop has become predictable." I won't write the usual, its better than mainstream hip hop because if you are looking at illogic, you should already know that the majority of rap music sucks. This cd in my opinion has the best beats from Blueprint compared to Got Lyrics and Unforeseen Shadows. The beats are very smooth and melodic, but at the same time they hit hard. They will make you want to breathe deep, meditate, and bob your head at the same time. The lyrics... where can i begin? As poetic and intelligent as Illogic has ever been. "It was a beautiful Thursday, sun beamed through my window pane, Then a strange brush (rush?) of emotion awoke me/ I squint and strained to focus, then i noticed in every blanket a tainted feeling filled my being, life walked me on yo-yo string/ instinct beaconing me to call my lady and converse" (Lesson in Love, Track 8). I will leave you there with only the first few lines of an amazing story. For those of you who have heard previous Illogic material and you like it, you must own this lp. For those of you who like underground hip hop but have not heard Illogic before, he will soon become one of your favorites. If you do not like hip hop because you are too ignorant and believe that it is all the same as what you see on TRL, then you may not be intelligent enough to understand what Illogic is saying, although you should still by this album. Aesop Rock, Vast Aire, Blueprint, and Slug (of Atmosphere) are featured on this album as well, making it all the better. Illogic said that he believes this album is one of the most personal albums ever, and I agree. Close to Sage Francis- Personal Journals. If you get this album, I guarantee you won't be let down. Enjoy

Got Beats, December 29, 2004
This album has some of the best beats I have ever heard. Just pure underground. Dude has a great Flow and can really get into each song.Do not look at the one on Amazon that is some bad rock group."The Only Constant" is just strait butter and features Blueprint."Birthright" was okay but not to excellent."1000 Whispers" has a beat remake of a famous Who song."Time Capsel" is one of the best songs of the year and has a excellent verse by Aesop and Vast Aire."Celestial Clockwork"
is a landscape beat layed down for Illogic."Hellow Shal" was alright."Lesson in Love" was weird in a good way."First Trimester" was a masterpiece. "Live to Die" is just pure underground beats."Stand" features Slug. The beat sounds a little like a classic DJ Premier type beat and Slug appears.
"My World" is yet another great song and he kills it."I wish he would make me" what a surprise it is hot rhymes over hot beats. I do not know why people say mainstream beats on the Lil Flip album or better then this. There is no way in hell.Night

By A Customer
This album is a breath of fresh air. With Illogic "painting a thousand pictures" over blueprints head-banging canvases, this is a must have(as the case with any of his work). Illogic's lines are strong poetic messages, which ultimately result with one feeling inspired, motivated, happy etc.....they may even help one find peace of mind. This wouldn't be possible though if it weren't for his amazing delivery. Blueprint really makes a statment with these beats..i love the trumpet work(or so it sounds)on "hollow shell"...i love all but one track ( wont say so not to skew what YOU may think...which is what matters the most)but yeah, it took it a while for it to hit the shelf at my local undergound joint, as it may with yours--CAP it right away when it pops up. not much more to say other than have a wonderful time experiencing greatness. peace
