Product Description

Editorial Review

True love triumphs in Barbie’s video and DVD movie, Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper. Girls who simply can’t get enough of this variation on the classic tale will certainly want to get their hands on this romantic horse and carriage. With room for four newlyweds (dolls not included), the plastic coach is drawn by two golden steeds with long, groomable manes and tails. Girls can play out the Barbie story of love and identification-trading, rolling the elaborately decorated carriage through the kingdom. Unfortunately, the less-than-sturdy play set might not stand up to the happily-ever-after standard of fairy tales, but it will provide plenty of entertainment while this particular Barbie era lasts. --Emilie Coulter

Product Description

Your little princess can recreate the double wedding scene from the Barbie video "The Princess and the Pauper" with this Royal Kingdom Carriage. This romantically-styled double carriage seats four Barbie dolls. Detach the two beautiful horses, so you can play with them and groom them separately. They come with saddles, bridles, reins and decorative saddle bows. You can even wear their bows in your hair, too. The elegant carriage has turning wheels, so it really rolls along.Barbie dolls sold separately. Measures 23"L x 8"W x 12.75"H.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the price, September 15, 2004
Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
My daughter is four & loves all things Barbie. Her favorites are the "princess" type Barbies. She was very excited to finally get a carriage. I was hesitant to pay $30 but decided it would give her countless hours of fun. That was not the case. As soon as we got it out of the box I could tell it wasn't going to last for long. It looks great but as soon as you touch it parts start to fall off. The horses don't stay attached to the carriage. The gold pieces fall off and won't stay on. My daughter grew tired of having to fix the carriage and horses time and time again. The carriage now sits on the shelf collecting dust. If I had to pick the best part of this item, it would be the horses. They are the only thing that doesn't fall apart. (...) Very surprised & disappointed that "Barbie" (Mattel) fell short of the quality standard we are used to having with this line. In the words of my four year old, "Mommy this isn't very fun! It's always broken!"

1.0 out of 5 stars FRUSTRATING, WASTE OF MONEY!!!, November 20, 2004

I bought this for my 4 year old daughter. It is the biggest piece of junk Barbie has ever made, in my opinion. That's scary, since many Barbie items fall apart. Your child will end up pushing the carriage around without the horses, because there is no way to keep them attached. I have tried many things already, and my last option is going to be to wrap packing tape around the horses in an attempt to get them to stay on the carriage. Everything about this $30 set is cheaply made. What a shame!

2.0 out of 5 stars Reconsidered my first review, November 12, 2004
By Price Girls (austin, texas) - See all my reviews
Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
I wrote a review and was trying to be more positive. After 3 weeks, I have to submit a new one. Our good friends spent $27 on this toy at the store and it's junk now. Every single little piece has fallen or been taken off. If your child has a younger sibling, this is an issue. I know it warns that it's not for under 3, but I still don't expect over 2 dozen little things coming off as easily as they did. At first the carriage was set aside and the horses were played with. Now, not even those are played with. My girls can be rough on their toys, but this is ridiculous. I don't think we've owned a toy made of poorer quality and we've bought some pretty cheap toys so that's saying something. I would not, would NOT recommend wastingyour money on this.
