4.0 out of 5 stars Number 13 Isn't Unlucky On This CD!, July 6, 2004
By D. Aldrich "bradordj" (Oskaloosa, Iowa United States) - See all my reviews

I just listened to the cd and thought that the album was done well. Although I have to admit that Nancy Kerrigan needs to stick to skating - there was a track that more than made up for it! Wendy Jans' performance on track 13 was incredible! Why isn't this lady on the top of the charts?? Her sound is flawless, clean, and her style is what the music industry needs! This cd is definitely worth buying!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, October 21, 2004
By KMac "KDM" (East Coast) - See all my reviews
This cd is pretty good. I love how some of the artists remade the songs into their own, like Jane Child with "We Dont Need Anoher Hero" & Kyle. McMahon with "I Dont Want To Fight". Kyle.'s solo version is far superior to the one here & you can find it on the net. Rose Riter just sang over Kyle.'s version of the song. Ashame as she doesn't really have the "chutzpah" to sing a song like this.
I also like the remade version of Private Dancer.

THe other songs just sound like the original versions.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK, BUT THERE SHOULD BE OTHER STARS., August 6, 2004
By B. M Peters (Powell River B.C) - See all my reviews

These are great songs. A more star studded seasoned cast should have mad up a majority of this album. Some of the tracks on the album are really good.
1) Whats love, performed by Tiffany:This cut shows Tiffany taking a on a hard song to sing and handling it with ease.Clear soothing.Good rendition, and a mature vocalist.
2)Better be good, an ok version, mabe a sounding a little dated compared to the original.
3)We don't need another hero: one of the most essential tracks on the album. Jane Child gives this dated song a breath of new life. An almost erotic/dark/spooky vocal performance and the production is awesome.
4)I don't wanna fight, a good country rendition. Nice passionate vocals on this one.
5)River Deep, in my opinion the worst track on the album. There is nothing standing between this and a cheap do-it-your-self kareoke vocal demo. Darlene is too good for that.Sounds cheap, cheezy and computer generated, a little less on the protools.
6)Rock me baby,Not too bad, a grooving blues/country version of Tina's erotic sex anthem. This song may have been written by BB King but this song (like Proud Mary) is Tina's.Like Proud mary, her version blows any other version out of the water.
7)I can't stand the rain, Great vocals by Allanah but the background vocals sound cheezy and computer genrated.
8)Private Dancer-Jasy Andrews, a new talent this version stands proud next to the original. A pop/acoustic version with a basic piano backing and a soothing crystal clear vocal performance make this an essential track on this album.Haunting.
9)The Best, Nancy Kerrigan, Advice: Nancy stick to skating. This rendition is a joke. Your an athlete not a singer.
10)Proud Mary, Ross stevens. Great rendition of Tina Turners proud mary, incorporating some elements of the original ccr rendition in it. Great, energetic.
11)What you get is what you see, Deniece Williams,A good version not trying to over sing.Good job.
12)A love like yours (liner notes say 'so Fine'[an Ike and tina recording from 1966 but the song Alove like yours. Kip Winger, sounding eerily similar to Rod stewart, I (of course) love his voice. This accoustic rendition is emotional and hearfelt like Tinas Dynamic cover. Tina's version of a love like yours is much more mature and intese than martha & the Vandellas teen pop/motown version.
13)Silent Wings, not too bad is almost in the same league as Tinas version, this version however, lacks imagination, and originality.
14)River deep accoustic version> better as this is much more simple and does not sound so computerized and kaeokeish.
Decent. Tracks 3,4,6,8,10,12 make this album worth buying!
