Thoughtfully designed, the unit provides a contoured shape for easy gripping, an extra-wide opening for convenient filling, and a flip-top lid with a splashguard to help prevent spills. The water tank can be used with HD7810 Senseo models only and is not compatible with other coffeemakers. Made in the USA, the water tank measures approximately 7 by 5-2/7 by 11-1/2 inches. 5.0 out of 5 stars Handy., July 14, 2004
By Kimberly Smith (Harrison, AR) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Our Senseo came from Sam's and was packaged with one of these, but I imagine that if I had bought a model without it, we would have eventually bought one. As the directions suggest, we run a cup of water (no pod) through the Senseo when we first start it to get the parts warm and make the coffee come out hotter. It doesn't take long to run through a standard-sized tank of water if you're doing that each time you fire up the machine. The larger reservoir means fewer refillings, about once a day for us instead of two a day.

The downside is that it does make the machine about 3-4" deeper than it would be otherwise, and make it not quite as sleek-looking. It's still very snazzy, though, and I think the convenience is worth a few inches of countertop space.

added 11/30/04: It looks like the Sam's in my area will no longer be stocking the Senseo OR its coffee pods. It's all been relegated to the clearance corner...

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice Product, August 24, 2005
By Gary Kawamura (Southern, CA USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I've been using "Extra Large Water Tank" for several months now, and I have to admit, it is convenient.

I use bottled water, so trying to fill the standard tank was an exercise in agility and coordination. The advantage of the larger tank, over standard, besides doubling the capacity, is that it stands on it's own on the counter. It's just a matter of opening the lid, and filling up the tank. The standard tank required balancing with one hand, while the other hand is maneuvering the water bottle.

In the beginning, I was a little skeptical about this product. For it's size, it is light, and felt a little flimsy. But, it has endured several months of daily use and, I no longer think of it as being fragile.

By the way, this product was a gift from my sister, and a very thoughtful gift indeed. I couldn't thank her enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Almost a necessity!, December 8, 2004
By P. Ching (Lake Forest, CA) - See all my reviews
Senseo rocks! The big tank is a bit of an extravagence in the sense that whether you are using the big tank or the small one, the coffee tastes the same. That said, being able to fill the tank every three or four days rather than each day is probably worth the $20.

12/13/05 Update: Still loving Senseo and still loving the tank. Without it, I suspect even average users will find that they have to refill the tank every one to two days (not a big deal in the abstract but when you're rushing out the door to get to work in the mornings, it's nice to minimize the "doh!" moments).
