5.0 out of 5 stars 12 Stones 2nd release - a follow up success, June 26, 2005
By Petar Vodogaz "Commissioner" (Sydney, NSW Australia) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is the band's follow up album to their debut self-titled album from 2002. And it is another successful enterprise by this self proclaimed Christian rock band. With this CD they have shackled off much of the 'Creed' sound that was most apparent in their first album. 12 Stones' have their own signature sound to their music now. And it's a evolution from Creed's own unique sound. The guitar riffs and jams are still their but now included is the steely voice of Paul McCoy who shows promise to be another Scott Stapp in lead vocals.
My favourite songs on this album were 'Far Away', 'Stay' and 'Waiting For Yesterday'.

5.0 out of 5 stars 12 Stones 11 Tracks (Amazing), September 6, 2004
12 Stones have left their immature repetitive sound behind on their new album Potters Field. Potters Field is the album that will establish 12 Stones as a well known band. Each song is very diverse, and Paul Mccoys voice cant get any more soothing. Their lyrics have matured greatly with songs covering regret, strength, self esteem, finding inner peace and suicide. Fans of Evanescence, AlterBridge, Audioslave, 3 doors down, Linkin Park, Nickelback, Hoobstank, Lit should feel right at home. Theres a good mix of hard hitting songs like "Far Away" "3 leaf Loser" and "Speak Your mind", and the slow beautiful songs like "Waiting for Yesterday" "Photograph" and the fan favorite atleast at the official message board "Stay." This album has something for everyone.

Shadows - 6/10 Not the greatest beginning for such a great album like Potters Field. This song has Paul screaming "Looking for something to believe I find the answer to fade." Nothing really great about this song.

Last Song - 9/10 Great song with soft verses, and hard hitting catchy chorus, the bridge will definatly get stuck in your head. You'll be walking around singing "I lose myself in everything you say" Great guitar solo.

Far Away - 8/10 One of the last choices I would of picked for 1st single. Hard hitting song with Great lyrics about feeling lost, and alone.

Speak Your Mind - 5/10 worst song on the album.

Lifeless - 9/10

Bitter - 8/10 Different for 12 stones, catchy verses finding Paul asking "Mother Mother can you hear me"

Photograph - 9/10 Touching song about suicide. Great guitar riff.

Leaf Loser - 6/10

Stay - 10/10 Most fans love this, it falls in the same territory as 3 doors down but not as poppy, plus Paul Mccoys voice is much better, great guitar riffs.

Waiting for Yesterday - 10/10 Best song on the album. Awesome hook awesome lyrics awesome singing style. The song is filled with hooks and not poppy lame hooks. The song is has a beautifully sung verses and some screaming during the choruses it really shows the range in Pauls voice. By far the best song

In Closing - 10/10 Great way to end the album you'll find the bridge stuck in your head "Nothing you will ever say"

All in All Great album one of the best released of the yr. CHECK IT OUT the last part of the album is much better than the first so dont judge from the clips on amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just waiting to breakout..., August 24, 2004
By Wesley Wilson (Chapel Hill, NC) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I kind of happened across 12 Stones. I was listening to Launch Yahoo radio one day on a computer that wasn't mine, and it was recommended to me from listeners of Switchfoot. The song I heard was "The Way I Feel" on their debut album. Needless to say, I thought it was great, so I got their first album and eagerly awaited their sophomore release. Well, it's here and it's just as good as the first. It's a bit rock and a bit punk...the lyrics are catchy after a couple listens, and the cd can be listened to from start to finish. I hope this is their breakout CD just like The Beautiful Letdown was for Switchfoot. Go buy it today!
