Designed to match all Heritage Series speakers from Advent in both look and sound, the Heritage center-channel speaker will also provide clear, natural sound when integrated with your existing left/right stereo speakers--a convenient way to ease into full-blown surround sound with the further use of a multichannel audio/video receiver handling power and surround processing.

The 2-way speaker uses a pair of 4-inch woofers with a 1-inch soft-dome tweeter, delivering a broad frequency response of 55 to 30,000 Hz for natural-sounding voices and detailed, extended treble. The 4-to-8-ohm speaker can handle up to 150 watts of amplification, and it's designed to be extremely efficient and therefore undemanding of your power amplifier (its sensitivity is rated at 88 dB). Most amplifiers with a minimum power rating of 15 watts per channel will drive the speaker efficiently.

Advent recommends using standard 16-gauge speaker wire (or larger 14- or 12-gauge multi-stranded cable) for connecting this speaker.

I purchased this speaker not completely knowing what to expect. There seems to be a general lack of information available. Advent used to be known for outstanding quality speakers but after changing hands several times it was impossible to know if this was still the case. At the budget speaker price point that this was offered at, you would not expect something as good as this. While I am not an audiophile, as a professional musician and movie lover I do try to look at speakers seriously.

The build quality of this speaker is outstanding, even better than a lot of products that cost three times as much. The fit and finish were superb. The cabinet appears to be constructed of 5/8" MDF which is unheard of at this price and it has gold plated binding posts. The cabinet is also internally braced and ported at the rear as well.

I was truly impressed by the sound of this speaker. For a speaker of this size, the bass is outstanding. I also have a couple of Sony towers with 12" woofers and this thing manages to keep up with them no problem although it does not quite get as low frequency wise. It does have much better bass frequency response than just about any other center I could find and it shows.Out of the box, the mid-range and treble are a little weak, but after break-in they are just fine. My surround system consists of JBL N24's and the quality of the treble and mid-range are easily as good if not better than those and of course the N24's are no match for it in the low range.

Bang for the buck, you will probably not find a better center for under $150 than these, and these are substantially less than that. I upgraded from an old Sony center and the difference is night and day.

This Center-Channel Speaker is fanatasic. The sound quality is great. It covers the whole range of sound (from your lows to your highs) and delivers great dialog/voice. Don't let the low price of this Center-Channel Speaker fool you. At a $69.99 price tag you really can't go wrong.

The performance of these Advent speakers is yet to be adjudged since I dont have any 6.1 DVDs that can give me an idea of how these speakers sound. However when listening to FM radio I find the sound to be pretty good. As an Amazon.com customer for over 6 years I have always found their service to be excellent.
