4.0 out of 5 stars Almost incredible, November 7, 2004
Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: The Incredibles (Video Game)
Another Disney game, another game tie-in. This one is based on the extremely recent Pixar film, The Incredibles. A lot of movie tie-in games range from surprisingly good(EA's Lord of the Rings) to bad(pretty much everyone else). This one falls somewhere in the middle.

Story: The 2 adult Incredible family members where crime fighters until people sued them for the damages when they were saving the city. Now, living boring jobs with 3 children, Mr. Incredible(Bob) wants to relive his old glory and accepts a mission only to end up needing rescuing by his family.

Graphics: They fit the movie's look perfectly. And the special powers are done well. Frozone(basically a Silver Surfer) looks strange and the scenes taken from the film look oddly dark.

Sound: As usual, there's in-game dialogue that gets repeated over and over. The music though fits the levels perfectly.

Gameplay: Playing as the 4 Incredible family members, each has a particular type of stage. Mr. Incredible is a basic beat-em-up platform with super strength. Mrs. Incredible with her elastic body usually does puzzle missions. And the 2 annoying stages of Dash and Violet. Because of Dash's speed, he does high speed obstacles courses. It'd be great if the camera would actually show you where to go because one hit against something and you have to start over at last checkpoint. Violet's are stealth missions but get annoying when you keep getting caught.

Overall, it's a pretty good rental although surprisingly there's a couple of really frustrating missions that the kiddies may want to have their older brother beat.

4.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Incredibles, September 24, 2005

Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: The Incredibles (Video Game)
I love this game. My daughter and I are big Ratchet and Clank fans and look for games with similiar play. We found that in the Incredibles game. It's exciting and challenging. As we get playing it , I wonder if it is too easy at times, but then I get to a spot that I can't accomplish until I do it 10 times. My favorite thing about the game is , after conquering the first level as Mr. Incredible, you then get to be Mrs. Incredible, Dash, Violet, etc. Great fun.

1.0 out of 5 stars It's like clockwork..., June 19, 2005
A Kid's Review
Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: The Incredibles (Video Game)
...Another great movie, another terrible game. Let me say first off that I was a fan of the movie. I loved the unique sense of humor and beautiful animation of the movie. I tried renting this game expecting the same high-flying, crazy action of the movie. No such luck, my friends. To be frank, this game sucks. Sure, the graphics capture the feeling of the movie rather well, but other than that i felt no connection at all. Heck, the cutscenes don't even integrate that well.

As you may guess, you play as all four of the Parrs, Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Dash, and Violet.

Mr. Incredible's missions consist of running mindlessly around extremely repititious evironments, punching guys in the face, punching robots, barreling into guys, and jumping through extremely poorly designed platforming sessions.

Elastigirl's missions are basically the same. Sure, she can grab guys and toss them, roll into a ball and barrel through them, and has a few flashy moves, but this is marred by terrible controls, scorching repitition and overall horrendous camera work.

Dash...ah yes, Dash. Let's see, what can I say here? Well, you run. That's basically it. You run on a time limit through a linear path, occasionally falling, jumping, and avoiding. You will restart about twenty times each, seeing as how these missions require you to memorize the exact technique the whole way. Other than that, you can run faster by boosting which usually gets you killed even more often.

And Violet...sigh...has stealth missions. Yup, just run through an environment of intensely stupid enemies by becoming invisible and occasionally creating force fields when you are caught. Solid Snake, she is not. Sam Fisher, she is not. Hell, Snake Pliskin she is not. She is a good goth girl trapped in a crap-covered game.

So yeah, this game is not good. This game is somewhat hard, if you consider avid memorization to be hard. Is this game a piece of crap? Oh god yes. There is no reason to rent this game, no reason to buy this game, no reason to say anything more about this game.

Need I say it?

My son played this a few times and ditched it. This one didn't have sticky factor like Fantastic Four or Spiderman 3. We should have bought it used.
